Discover all the possibilities of a career at Northside today. Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician's order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications. Explains procedure to patient and ensures consent form is signed if required for examination. Positions patient, administers oral or intravenous contrast as required. Monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary. Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information. Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy. Assist physician with CT guided procedures, to include, but not limited to biopsies, aspirations, needle localizations, ablations, and drainage exams. Practices sterile technique as required. Sets up sterile trays with all supplies and instruments required for procedures. Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system. Responsible for ensuring communication to radiologist regarding Acute Stroke patients and certifying compliance with Acute Stroke protocols. Ensures all billable procedure charges are entered in a timely manner after the procedure is completed. Rectifies all missing charges from HBI report. Performs minor maintenance and repairs on Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment. Refers other problems to the Computerized Tomography (CT) Supervisor. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injuryaccident to Manager. Performs myelograms, venograms, arthrograms, and other studies requiring intravenous or Sudbury injection of contrast medium. Assists physicians with studies. Delivers intravenous medication under direct supervision of physicians. Regularly performs the duties and responsibilities of the computed technologist. Performs routine computed tomography examinations in accordance with specific operating instructions and safety. Trains new staff members in the procedural areas Communicates the need for procedural supplies in a timely manner to the designated department personnel responsible for ordering supplies. Coordinators day to day workflow with the Radiologist, CT Supervisor, and procedural nurses Must be able to work in a team environment. May be asked to work in another department as needs dictate. REQUIRED Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology. Registered CT Technologist from ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) Registered Radiology Technologist (ARRT). Must hold Certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). PREFERRED Prior experience in Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning. Advanced knowledge of crosssectional anatomy. Ability to insert intravenous catheter. Ability to deal tactfully and pleasantly with various types of patients, visitors, physicians and other personnel. | |
