Description

Presidio - Where Networking Meets Automation
At Presidio, we're driving the future of infrastructure by uniting decades of networking expertise with modern DevOps principles. Our teams are reimagining how enterprises design, deploy, and operate networks through code, automation, and AI-driven insights.

We're building a NetDevOps practice-a convergence of traditional networking, cloud-native infrastructure, and intelligent automation-and we're looking for a Senior NetDevOps Engineer ready to lead the charge.

The Role: Senior NetDevOps Engineer

As a Senior NetDevOps Engineer with Presidio, you'll design, develop, and implement automated network infrastructure solutions across multi-vendor environments. You'll transform complex networking challenges into scalable, repeatable, and auditable code-helping our clients evolve toward full lifecycle automation.

You'll work alongside solution architects, DevOps engineers, and network specialists to operationalize automation pipelines that bridge traditional IT and modern cloud ecosystems.

Travel Requirements: This is a remote role (within the continental U.S.) with occasional travel for client engagements or team workshops.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, build, and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions for enterprise networks using Ansible, Terraform, and Python frameworks (e.g., Nornir, NAPALM, Netmiko, FastAPI).
  • Integrate NetBox/Nautobot as a source of truth and orchestrate self-service workflows within AAP or CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps).
  • Develop RESTful APIs and microservices for network automation and observability.
  • Create integrations with AI agents and assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, or internal MCP servers) to enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Contribute to architecture diagrams (Lucidchart, Draw.io, Visio) and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Standardize and maintain configuration and compliance baselines across multi-vendor platforms (Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista, Meraki, Juniper, Fortinet).
  • Work collaboratively with product, cloud, and security teams to support hybrid environments (on-prem, private, and public cloud).
  • Evangelize automation practices internally and mentor junior engineers within the NetDevOps practice.

Required Skills & Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent military and/or professional experience
  • 7+ years of combined networking and/or systems engineering experience
  • 5+ years of professional coding and automation experience
  • Deep understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and mobility solutions
  • Strong grasp of network fundamentals including SNMP, LLDP, DHCP, PKI, VPNs, subnetting, and QoS
  • Proficiency with 3 or more of the following:

    • Python frameworks - NAPALM, Nornir, Netmiko, Genie, Ciscoconfparse, FastAPI, Batfish
    • Automation platforms - Ansible / Red Hat AAP, Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation
    • Network source-of-truth tools - NetBox, Nautobot
    • Version control systems - GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket
    • Diagramming and documentation - Lucidchart, Draw.io, Visio
    • Databases - SQL and NoSQL

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Demonstrated ability in technical writing, diagramming complex architectures, and communicating with both engineers and executives

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience using or developing with agentic AI tools (Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
  • Contributions to open-source network automation projects
  • Experience deploying automation at scale in multi-tenant or service provider environments
  • Familiarity with security automation, compliance-as-code, or observability platforms
  • Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SDN controllers (ACI, NSX-T, DNAC, etc.)
