The Opportunity

Working within the Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) team, under the direct guidance of the SCC Manager and Asset Leads, the Pipeline Integrity Engineer will contribute to the specialized technical SCC Threat Management Team by developing the maintenance programs for all gas pipeline assets and lines of business in Canada.

You will be responsible for the facilitation of risk analysis of the SCC Threat, technical decision making, and contributing to the overall effectiveness and management of the SCC program. You will be involved with the production of innovative engineering solutions for the effective management of SCC threat on TC Energy's pipelines; aiming for the highest level of safety and lowering life-cycle costs, while ensuring regulatory and compliance requirements of the SCC Canadian Gas Program are met.

What you'll do

  • Support the team in carrying out of risk analysis to generate effective SCC management programs

  • Facilitate the selection of appropriate tool(s) for mitigation of SCC threat on specific pipelines

  • Gather and analyze pipe characteristics, environmental, operational, and historical data to infer condition of pipeline regarding SCC threat

  • Provide timely support in engineering assessments, technical memorandums, feasibility, and risk studies using engineering principles

  • Work with Project Managers, Assessments and Repair, Gas Operations and Program Optimization to ensure successful implementation of hydrostatic tests, in-line inspections and excavations programs

  • Support development of internal standards, procedures, specifications and metrics to ensure compliance with regulations, codes, standards and industry best practices

  • Report, document, and demonstrate compliance with internal SCC processes and ensure regulatory requirements are achieved

  • Update reporting tools and performance metrics required in the SCC team's daily activities

  • Assist in writing project justifications and scope for the execution of projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering

  • For Canadian candidates, registered as Engineer-in-Training with APEGA in Alberta in good standing

  • 2 - 3 years of progressive relevant experience

  • Experience and technical background in Pipeline Integrity is an asset

  • Evidence of excellent analytical and decision-making skills

  • Proven ability to work and contribute in a team environment is required

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to tailor delivery to suit the audience

  • Demonstrative initiative, willing and able to identify new opportunities for improvement and bring them forward

  • Highly organized and able to effectively prioritize responsibilities and self-direct work.
