POSITION SUMMARY:  The Safety Supervisor will provide all the safety support to the Apex Plant. This position will lead all new hire on-boarding for MSHA, yearly refreshers and monthly safety meetings. The Safety Supervisor role will be a key leader in the roll out of safety initiatives and plant support. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Responsible for compliance with MSHA regulations including employee training, delivery, and documentation. 
 Maintain records in accordance with company/location policy.Support all accident and incident investigations for facilities in area of responsibility.Assist Health and Safety with reports to Workers' Compensation and monitor Workers' Compensation claims.Assist Health and Safety in the completion and submittal of any company, local, state or federal agency reports.Provide the necessary documentation to demonstrate personnel training.Train current and new employees on relevant procedures, practices, and regulations.Support any audit processes which may include MSHA visits and other compliance audits. Safety Program 
 Participate and be a leader in Plant and Regional Safety projects and supporting the efforts.Perform routine inspections of site and equipment.Coordinate safety incentive programs and audit for consistency.Develop a system to periodically review and audit health and safety programs.Responsible to coordinate with management team regarding all trainings including monthly meetings and annual refresher trainings.Assist in the development of Job Safety Analysis and work with managers to develop safe and compliant work procedures.Organize and oversee Mine Rescue team on-site and outside contacts.Be a visible leader of safety by being in the field with all employees. Assist/Manage the analysis of compliance programs and develop best practices 
 Provide front end input for safety and compliance on all capital projects, equipment or process changes.Ensure compliance and maintenance of company/site Industrial Hygiene program.Create best practices for safety protocol implementation and follow up Perform other during as assigned. ATTRIBUTES:

Safe Quality Food (SQF) 
 Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with Federal FDA - Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507).Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs.Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture.Following completion of SQF training, demonstrate understanding of expected safety, SQF performance and Food Safety Culture.Complete periodic SQF training(s).Each site location will ensure training is conducted for new employees and continued for existing employees.Employees will actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site. PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:  
 Must be physically able to perform work assigned.Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles.The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.*Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds. REQUIRED EDUCATION: 
 BS degree in Environmental, Engineering, Chemistry, Natural Science, or other related technical degree, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 
 Minimum of three (3) years management experience in industrial environmental where safety is a high priority. PREFFERED EXPERIENCE: 
 Knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations and agencies (MSHA, OSHA, DOT), the regulatory process, and the procedures for obtaining information.Two to five (2-5) years of experience with MSHA/OSHA regulated facilities. CSMP certification. Worked in lime, cement, mining or other related industry.
