Summary

The Solution Architect is an integral part of Trimble Professional Services and is expected to apply deep industry and implementation experience to support the Trimble Construction One software platform with a focus on continuous process improvement and innovation.

The Solution Architect is involved in strategic customer interaction for the discovery and design process and assists in the design of the overall vision that underlies the Trimble Construction One solution. Solution Architects act as liaisons between Professional Services and other departments within Trimble Viewpoint (e.g. Product, Development, Learning and Enablement, etc.)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Solution Architect provides support in three main areas:

Project Architecture and Delivery

  • Participant in discovery for strategic engagements by assessing customer needs, outlining system workflow, advising on standard functionality and customization opportunities where appropriate, and identifying best practices.

  • Formulate and communicate engagement strategy to customers and internal team members.

  • Support project implementation team throughout engagements where appropriate.

  • Assist in consulting related escalations in support of the overall engagement.

  • Maintain billable utilization goals by executing against project architecture activities or through standard consulting engagements.

Product Liaison

  • Stay current on upcoming product releases.

  • Communicate product updates to professional services.

  • Serve as a key professional services team member during New Product Introductions (NPI).

  • Partners with product teams to provide feedback on implementation collected from both internal teams and customers.

Professional Services Development

  • Facilitate software knowledge transfer through ad-hoc and formal training methods.

  • Train where appropriate on newly released features.

  • Incorporate new features into existing implementation methodology.

  • Contribute to internal professional services initiatives.

  • Assist in maintaining our internal consulting environment (user creation, cleanup, etc.).

  • Collaborate with the PMO and CMO to develop and improve our delivery methodology.

  • Partner with other Trimble divisions to support the Connect and Scale strategy.

  • Work with the PS Sales team to identify additional revenue opportunities.

  • Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and good judgment in all interactions with co-workers, customers, vendors and others.

Qualifications

The Solution Architect requires advanced experience implementing Trimble Construction One Vista software and requires broad and deep product knowledge, a high level of industry business process knowledge, and ability to provide consulting services and customized training to customers and other Software Consultants. Must have proven ability to provide construction business process consulting services and manage multiple, complex projects.

Required:

  • 5+ years implementing and supporting Vista software.

  • College degree in business, training, or technology plus project management or a minimum of seven years of software consulting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of project management methodology and practices

  • Accomplished client-management skills, relationship-building skills, requirements gathering experience, and negotiating skills. Must be able to successfully drive multiple projects in parallel.

  • Must be able to consistently perform assigned work within established deadlines.

  • Solid working knowledge of G Suite, Microsoft Office, and Salesforce required.

  • Familiarity with Smartsheet and other PSA tools (e.g. Kantata) is a plus.

  • Experience consulting for the construction industry.

  • Subject matter expertise in one or both of the following areas:

    • Accounting principles and practices (e.g. payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, purchase orders, general ledger)

    • Construction project management principles and practices (e.g. project set-up via estimate, project buy-out, project documents, project change orders, job costing, job billing)

Working Conditions

Work takes place in a variety of settings as follows:

  • In an office setting that requires the ability to sit and work at a keyboard and computer monitor for extended periods of time, and to communicate with customers and co-workers by phone and computer.

  • In various settings related to on-site customer consulting. This includes travel up to 25% to and from customer site via car, train, and airline, standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, presentation of training/consulting topics, and overnight hotel stays.

  • This position requires both travel of up to 30%. Travel requirements may vary depending on assigned number of projects and project timing. Candidates for this position must be willing and able to meet travel requirements. A valid driver's license and ability to qualify for a US Passport are required. Also required is the possession of a personal credit card with sufficient limits to charge travel expenses.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

Compensation: Trimble provides the following compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full time schedule. Trimble reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
