POSITION SUMMARY



  • Responsible for the management of the development and quoting functions for the Corporate Purchasing Department and for following the practices and procedures of the Midway Corporate production material procurement function while recommending and monitoring suppliers, negotiating payment terms, price and freight (as applicable) and supporting all MPG plant facilities. Investigates all new developments relative to material and supplies and makes recommendations designed to reduce cost and improve quality.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Establish practices and procedures to be followed relative to the purchasing and quoting function.
  • Oversees the initial quote function as performed by the Purchasing Agent - Initial Quoting and is ultimately responsible for the most suitable price for estimating use.
  • Has authority to negotiate payment terms, price, freight and LTA's.
  • Establishes and approves sources of Outside Processing. May establish and approve sources for raw materials and purchased parts.
  • Establishes production material purchase contracts per established purchase requisitions from Engineering or Materials functions.
  • Responsible for all Inter-Company Purchase Orders for production materials.
  • May be responsible for scheduling, follow up, and expediting of deliveries in special circumstances.
  • Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of purchasing records. Clear and concise documentation to the sourcing process and decisions made is to be included as backup information to the Purchase Order.
  • Cooperates with production, research, engineering, and other departments in the development of equipment, product specifications and substitute materials.
  • Cooperates with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of materials.
  • Recommends departmental policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Responsible for supplier performance and compliance to standards.
  • Reviews, recommends, processes and resolves disputed claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment as required.
  • Visit vendor's offices and plants to investigate facilities, capacity, and ability to meet quality requirements, specifications and delivery dates.
  • Keep abreast of price trends in basic raw materials and supplies, makes recommendations on the timing and quantity of purchases and the establishment of most economical purchase quantities.
  • Undertake specifically assigned projects relating to procurements.
  • Abides by the Midway Products Group, Inc. Confidentiality Agreement while in communication or correspondence with suppliers or customers.
  • Keeps abreast of materials and automotive markets and materials pricing trends that affect company products.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Purchasing, Quality & Materials Management.


JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS



  • Preferred degree in Business or a management related field.
  • 5 years experience, including 3 years in purchasing, production control and materials and purchasing development and quoting.
