A Brief Overview

The Lifespan Brain Institute (LiBI)of CHOP and the University of Pennsylvania is building large-scale, multi-generational cohorts to understand the foundations of riskand resilience across families. Our research integrates clinical, behavioral, cognitive, and health record data to identify mechanisms that shape health across generations. By linking parent and child outcomes with electronic health records (EHRs) and research-based phenotyping, our goal is to advance early detection, prevention, and intervention strategies.

We are seeking a Data Analyst I to join our research team. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing data from multiple sources including self-reports, cognitive and behavioral assessments, psychophysiological measures, and electronic health records (EHRs). This position will play a critical role in data integration, management, quality assurance, and analytical support for clinical and behavioral research projects.

What you will do

  • Extract, process, and integrate data from diverse sources including self-report questionnaires, cognitive assessments, behavioral measures, psychophysiological recordings, clinical procedures and electronic health records
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to ensure efficient and accurate data flow across multiple platforms
  • Clean and standardize data from multiple sources (EHR, survey, behavioral, imaging, and physiological datasets)
  • Conduct data quality checks and validations
  • Supporting cohort building and longitudinal tracking of families across generations
  • Collaborating with investigators, research staff to analyze data
  • Producing reports and data visualizations to support scientific, operational, and clinical collaborations
  • Create and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries and documentation
  • Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience working with healthcare data, behavioral research data, or clinical assessments
  • Demonstrated experience with data integration from multiple sources
  • Experience supporting clinical, psychological, or neuroscience research
  • Programming: Proficiency in R or Python for data analysis and statistical computing
  • Data Visualization: Ability to create clear, publication-quality charts and graphs (ggplot2, Tableau, or similar)
  • Experience with Git/GitHub for code and data management
  • Familiarity with data cleaning, transformation, and preprocessing technique
  • We are seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative, and motivated individualwho enjoys working at the intersection of data science, health records, and clinical research, and who is eager to contribute to advancing intergenerational mental health science.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Bachelor's Degree clinical informatics, sciences, math, statistics, healthcare management or other healthcare related degree. Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year data analysis or database management experience. Required
  • At least three (3) years data analysis or database management experience Preferred
  • working in a complex health care related environment Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of database management, mining, analysis and statistics.
  • Intermediate knowledge of programming languages (SQL)
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel)
  • Advanced proficiency with database management systems (Access, Oracle)
  • Advanced proficiency with data mining and analysis tools (Business Objects, Datawatch Monarch Pro, SAS, IBM SPSS)
  • Basic proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office) including word processing and presentation software (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong critical thinking / problem-solving skills
