Your Impact
As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will lead architecture design, drive technology decisions, and co-create innovative products while mentoring clients to adopt Agile practices and engineering excellence. This role offers hands-on collaboration, diverse industry exposure, and opportunities to shape solutions and grow as a technology leader.
You will lead project workstreams, drive architectural decisions, and build scalable solutions using Agile methodologies. Working closely with client teams, you will co-create products, foster a culture of engineering excellence, and mentor teams in best practices. Your responsibilities will include shaping technical strategies, making key technology decisions, and ensuring the delivery of impactful, user-centric solutions.
Your work will have a lasting impact beyond the products you build. By collaborating with client leadership, you will influence their digital strategies, help scale their engineering cultures, and enable them to achieve sustainable growth. Each project will expose you to diverse industries and technologies, providing opportunities to learn and grow while shaping the future of technology.

Your qualifications and skills
  • Undergraduate or master's degree; or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience developing full-stack applications by writing code that is readable, testable, maintainable, and scalable
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with other developers, as well as technical and non-technical people within software teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience across the full application stack with some of the following languages/frameworks: UI: JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, Angular.js, Next.js, Vue.js, Java, Sprint, C#, Node.js, SQL, MongoDB, cloud-native databases, AWS, Azure, GCP, Jenkins, Docker, Circle CI, Travis
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with common AI models and LLMs like GPT, Sonnet, etc.
  • Experience with AI-assisted IDEs such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, etc.
  • Experience modeling and coaching others to use engineering best practices such as design patterns, customer-centric design, test-driven development, code refactoring, code review, and OWASP Top 10 security awareness
  • Experience leading in Agile teams, including coaching and modeling Agile mindsets as part of sprint ceremonies, work definition and building developer capabilities.
  • Experience pair programming collaboratively with other developers
  • Exceptional time management to meet your responsibilities in a complex and largely autonomous work environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and local office language(s), with the ability to adjust your style to suit different perspectives and seniority levels

For new joiners for this role in Canada and/or the United States, including all office locations where the job may be performed, a reasonable estimated range is $193,000 - $197,400 in USD and $217,400 - $221,700 in CAD - to help you understand what you can expect. This reflects our best estimate of the lowest to highest salary for this role at the time of this posting, ensuring you have a clear picture right from the start, though it's important to remember that actual salaries may vary. Factors like your office location, your unique blend of experience and skills, start date and our current organizational needs all play a part in determining the final figure. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to McKinsey's discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
