Position Summary

Studio X, our renowned slots studio recognized for its infamous Frankenstein game is looking for an experienced animator who enjoys creating expressive characters, building rich worlds, and telling evocative and emotive stories. You'll use your artistic and technical skills to set the right tone in environments, create mood, atmosphere, depth, and enrich the player experience with striking effects. Your companions on this journey are a team of experienced slot game artists and developers who have been responsible for some of the most daring, original, and successful slot gaming products developed in the last decade.

Job Description:

  • Develop visual effects animations using traditional 2D, 3D, and motion design techniques for Electronic Gaming Machine products.

  • Able to work autonomously to produce leading animation work within the team, and to ensure top level integrity and quality of assets produced.

  • Assist the Animation Manager and Art Director in providing mentorship and training in new tools and techniques to the team.

  • In accordance with creative briefs, develop initial animation concepts and continue these through to final designs.

  • Contributes to a range of deliverables within the art production pipeline and EGM studio team.

  • Work closely with software engineers and game designers.

Qualifications

Education:

Tertiary qualifications in appropriate art related field are preferred, but not essential.

Experience:

  • 2+ yrs. experience working in a visual effects capacity, preferably within a game development studio.

  • Extensive training/experience in the use of digital art and animation software, including After Effects, Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, or similar.

  • Necessary knowledge includes all tasks related to both traditional and 3D animation, particle systems and motion graphics development.

  • Preferred knowledge of VFX for character animation, modelling, rigging, lighting, and texturing.

  • Sound foundational art skills.

Skills and Abilities:

  • A critical eye for detail, timing, composition, and capable of following/maintaining stringent guidelines.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Gaming industry/related experience preferred.
