Position Summary:

Join the Vallen as a Warehouse Supervisor. Our Warehouse Supervisor Role is a leader who oversees all daily operations within a specific facility. This includes supervising staff, managing inventory, and ensuring that all goods are received, stored, and shipped efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company policies and regulations. The core objective is to ensure the warehouse operates at peak efficiency to meet organizational goals and maintain high customer satisfaction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee operations: Manage the daily workflow of the warehouse, including the receiving, handling, storing, picking, and dispatching of goods. Responsible for overseeing all systematic transfers utilizing designated ERP system.
  • Manage inventory: Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts, track all incoming and outgoing shipments, and reconcile records to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Supervise staff: Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate the performance of warehouse employees. Provide coaching, guidance, and disciplinary action when necessary to ensure productivity and safety standards are met.
  • Enforce safety and security: Establish and enforce safety procedures and security protocols, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations, such as OSHA and US Customs. The facility operates a Foreign Trade Zone.
  • Optimize processes: Implement and refine operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency, productivity, and the overall flow of goods.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities: Ensure all warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and scanners, are properly maintained and functional. Plan and implement new warehouse layouts to maximize space utilization.
  • Budget management: Manage the annual warehouse budget, including analyzing variances and controlling operational costs.
  • Reporting and communication: Prepare regular reports on warehouse activities, performance metrics (KPIs), and inventory status for senior management. Communicate with other departments, suppliers, and transport companies to coordinate logistics.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education and experience: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, but an associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or business administration is often preferred. This role requires several years of experience in a warehouse or supervisory position.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills are essential for motivating and managing a team to achieve operational goals.
  • Problem-solving: The ability to identify and address issues, whether related to inventory, staffing, or logistics, is crucial for maintaining smooth operations.
  • Technical proficiency: Experience with a form of Warehouse Management System (WMS), SAP, inventory tracking software, and databases is preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with staff, other departments, and external partners.
  • Organizational skills: Strong planning and organizational abilities are needed to effectively manage inventory, schedules, and workflows.
  • Attention to detail: A keen eye for detail is necessary to maintain inventory accuracy and ensure proper order fulfillment.
  • Forklift certification: A license to operate a forklift is often a preferred or required qualification. Onsite training and certification will be provided

Work environment and Schedule:

Warehouse managers typically work in both an office setting and on the warehouse floor. The role is full-time, and schedules can vary to include nights, weekends, or holidays, depending on the needs of the business. The supervisor is required to be on call during all hours. The work can be fast-paced and demanding, requiring flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and address unexpected challenges.
