YOUR OPPORTUNITY


The Refrigeration Engineering Supervisor oversees the maintenance and operation of our powerhouse and refrigeration systems, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Leads preventive maintenance schedules, works closely with production teams to monitor utilities, and makes sure our facility meets all OSHA, ASHRAE, and PSM standards. This position also plays a key role in employee training and development, safety inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee daily operations of the powerhouse and ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure safe and efficient performance.
  • Manage and schedule all preventive maintenance (PM) activities for equipment and systems.
  • Monitor utilities in collaboration with production management and resolve issues that impact facility operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, ASHRAE, and PSM regulations and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Lead and develop team members through training, certification programs, and ongoing performance support.
  • Participate in Compliance Audits (CAs), Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Mechanical Integrity (MI) inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Verify annual visual inspections, valve cycling, and P&ID updates are completed accurately and on time.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement within the powerhouse and refrigeration departments.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required or preferred.   • Bachelor's degree or Technical School certification preferred; 5+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with boiler systems strongly preferred.
  • Operator I or II and RETA certifications preferred but not required.
  • Must meet all HAZMAT requirements and pass a Pulmonary Function Test.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions in English.
  • Strong communication skills - able to write reports, correspondence, and speak effectively with teams or groups.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including estimating labor needs, interpreting technical data, and applying math to practical maintenance situations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and FSIS regulations to ensure compliance and proper reporting for plant operations.



SCHEDULE



  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.

  • Office and production floor environment based on daily needs.


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.


  • The noise level in the work environment is dependent on which environment you are in but in most cases requires hearing protection.
