| Job Description
    Intermountain Research and Extension Center (IREC) is one the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources' ten Research and Extension Centers (RECs). IREC is located on 140 acres near Tulelake, CA in the northeast corner of the state. Research topics of current interest include crop variety development, integrated pest management, irrigation management, plant nutrition, and agriculture-wildlife interactions. Available Center facilities and equipment include a greenhouse; controlled post-harvest facility; drying ovens; automated potato grading line; mini-still for essential oil extraction; specialized small plot irrigation equipment; research adapted small plot planters and harvesters; and a full line of commercial farm equipment for field and vegetable crop production. Under general supervision, the Senior Farm Maintenance Worker will inspect farm buildings, facilities, and equipment to ascertain whether repairs are needed; make necessary repairs or have work performed by other craft workers; maintain irrigation systems; and install, repair and replace concrete pipe, stands, vents, valves, gates and water pumps. The incumbent will operate, maintain, and repair farm machinery and farm/ facilities infrastructure including buildings, irrigation systems, crop and equipment storage, vehicles, research equipment, roads, fences, and landscaping. Assist technical staff and project leaders with field research and uniform cropping operations including planting, weeding, cultivation, irrigation, harvest, and data collection. This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed. Pay Scale: $30.75/hour to $36.02/hour Job Posting Close Date: This job is open until filled.
