Pay: $90000 - $96000 / year (paid hourly)

Schedule: M - F; day shift

Location: San Jose, CA | TikTok office

The Operating Engineer will be responsible for daily operation and maintenance of the central utilities. The work will involve start-up, normal operation, monitoring, and shut down of utility systems and equipment; as well as troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repair work. The utility systems include electrical power, stand-by power generation, reverse osmosis water generation and distribution, steam boilers, chillers, chilled water distribution, compressed air, chemical treatment systems, and cooling towers. The Operating Engineer will monitor and control the utility systems through computer terminals on building automation systems (BAS) and similar computer-based controls systems.

What this job involves

  • Under minimal direction, the Operating Engineer is responsible for providing operational knowledge, maintenance and troubleshooting for the Central Utility plants. All work to be completed to assure minimal impact to client's business operations, while complying with cGMP and Jones Lang LaSalle regulations.
  • Perform operations to support central utility plants.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repair to support the central utility plants.
  • Able to effectively and efficiently troubleshoot all equipment in area of responsibility
  • Perform various "Housekeeping" activities. (i.e. keeping work areas clean, cleaning of equipment etc.)
  • Review and ensure that operational log paperwork, daily log files, and other documentation are completed with accurate information.
  • All work must be completed in accordance with CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, and JLL policies.
  • Maintain an up to date cGMP training record
  • Perform tasks in accordance with planning and scheduling

Required

  • 2 - 4 years of Utility Plant related work experience
  • EPA 608 Universal Refrigeration handling certification & Steam Engineer license, or willing to obtain within 6 months
  • An ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and lift 50 pounds
  • Basic organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas through verbal and written form
  • Basic trouble-shooting, problem solving skills, ability to work assigned shifts to provide 24 hour coverage, 7 days a week, and support on-call coverage as assigned
  • Ability to work with computer based controls
  • Ability to read and understand technical material including operating manuals and standard engineering drawings is required.
  • Ability to complete GMP documentation and follow applicable standard operating procedures
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and written form
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams

Preferred Qualification:

  • 2+ years experience in the operation and maintenance of a large scale utility plant including boilers, reverse osmosis units, chillers, cooling towers, diesel generators and electrical power distribution.
  • Experience working in a cGMP environment.
  • Experience working with established GMP procedures in the operation and maintenance of utility equipment

Estimated compensation for this position:

90,090.00 - 96,096.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
