Job Description:


As a Facilities & Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the upkeep of our buildings and production equipment. This role is responsible for keeping facilities safe, functional, and efficient, while also assisting with maintenance of manufacturing machinery.



Essential functions

  • Ensure all safety instructions and procedures are always followed
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and basic carpentry.
  • Address facility needs such as unclogging/fixing toilets, changing light fixtures and bulbs, and repairing doors, flooring, or minor structural issues.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify facility and equipment maintenance needs, safety hazards, or repair requirements.
  • Assist with preventative and corrective maintenance on production machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate with property management or outside vendors for specialized repairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in mechanical rooms, storage areas, and shop floor spaces.
  • Support janitorial and groundskeeping tasks between vendor visits.
  • Participate in emergency response protocols and building safety drills.
  • Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, and workspace setup.
  • Serve as backup for other maintenance team members as needed.

Requirements

Required Skills



  • Use of hand tools (wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, levels)
  • Use of power tools (drills, saws, grinders, impact drivers)
  • Basic plumbing repairs (leaks, faucet replacements, pipe fittings)
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting (checking fuses, resetting breakers, replacing outlets)
  • Perform preventive maintenance (lubricating equipment, checking belts, cleaning filters)
  • Read and follow maintenance work orders and basic schematics/manuals
  • Perform basic carpentry (door adjustments, shelving, drywall patching, minor framing)
  • Safely handle and store maintenance chemicals, oils, and lubricants
  • Conduct regular building inspections for leaks, damage, or hazards
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and co-workers regarding repairs
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces (mechanical rooms, storage, shop floor)


Preferred Skills



  • Operate ladders, scissor lifts, and small forklifts safely
  • Machine maintenance (belt and chain adjustments, bearing lubrication, replacing worn parts)
  • Experience with energy management or building automation systems
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools (multimeter, pressure gauges, infrared thermometer)
  • Familiarity with fire suppression systems and emergency lighting
  • Knowledge of hydraulics or pneumatics (hoses, valves, cylinders, air compressors)


Preferred education and experience



  • 3-5 years of maintenance experience
  • Trade School Certificate
  • 2-year associate degree in industrial maintenance or similar


Physical Requirements



  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly; occasional lifting of heavier objects with assistance.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching to access equipment, fixtures, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work on elevated platforms, and operate scissor lifts or forklifts as needed.
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools, parts, and small components safely and effectively.
  • Tolerance for extended periods of standing and walking within the facility and on surrounding grounds.
  • Visual acuity to read manuals, schematics, and perform detailed repairs.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors, including exposure to varying weather conditions (rain, heat, cold).



Work Environment



  • Comfortable working in environments with moderate noise, lubricants, oils, and machine maintenance chemicals.
