Job Summary
The Registration Specialist supports academic operations by managing student registration, records, and related processes with accuracy and efficiency. Serving as a primary contact for students, faculty, and staff, this role ensures high-quality service, policy compliance, and effective communication across campus.
Salary Range $21-$23. This is the expected hourly range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.
Essential Functions

  • Coordinates and manages the student registration process, including troubleshooting registration issues and providing timely support to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Provides timely, accurate support to students, faculty, and staff through written and verbal communication, ensuring clear understanding of Registrar policies and procedures.
  • Processes student withdrawals with attention to accuracy, documentation, and adherence to academic policies.
  • Creates and manages special course types, including independent studies, internships, honors research, and ELSA elective courses.
  • Processes and manages grades, including incomplete grades, grade corrections, and tracking of missing grades.
  • Processes changes or corrections to student records, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of academic data.
  • Approves and verifies FERPA release forms, ensuring compliance with federal privacy regulations.
  • Monitors non-attendance reporting via Navigate, conducts outreach to students, and supports institutional retention efforts.
  • Drafts and distributes campus-wide communications on behalf of the Office of Registration and Records, including policy updates, registration announcements, and academic deadlines.
  • Ensures all outgoing communications are accurate, student-centered, and aligned with institutional standards.
  • Oversees the Registrar's website, knowledge base, and assigned sections of the academic catalog.
  • Develops, refines, and implements student-centered policies that support academic compliance and promote student success.
  • Manages the office's ticketing system, responding promptly and professionally to inquiries from students, faculty, and staff.
  • Oversees inventory, including ordering and maintenance of office supplies and materials, ensuring resources are available to support daily operations.
  • Assists with the evaluation of transfer credits, including data entry, for incoming and current students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate with higher education experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to treat students, faculty and staff with respect while being able to explain required compliance to university policies.
  • Skilled in working effectively with a diverse student population
  • High-level technology skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or communications.
  • Experience with Colleague/Banner, Informer and NSCH preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
The essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
