Currently announcing a vacancy for a field representative for ESP in Organizational Development.


Duties

  1. Organize the unorganized with primary emphasis on the growth and maintenance of ESP members, in conjunction to other division initiatives and projects, as determined by the director.
  2. Develop and coordinate programs to organize, maintain and generate membership growth.
  3. Develop and implement NJEA's Inclusive Local Organizing Initiative.
  4. Develop and coordinate NJEA local and statewide contract bargaining, grievance adjudication, contract maintenance, crisis action plans, political and community action plans and other services for active supportive and inclusive local members through the local UniServ regional offices and statewide.
  5. Develop and execute local and statewide programs in member rights and human relations to promote improved organizational health, member-to-member communications and stronger local association activity for active supportive and inclusive local membership.
  6. Train other staff to deal with the unique challenges confronting active supportive and inclusive local members.
  7. Review and update sample agreement for active supportive and inclusive local members.
  8. Initiate, develop and implement leadership training for active supportive and inclusive local members at the Summer Leadership Conference, the NJEA Convention, the annual Educational Support Personnel Workshop, and other workshops and seminars.
  9. Prepare negotiations, leadership, membership maintenance, internal and external conflict resolution, communications, organizational management and other information and materials for use by staff and leadership for active supportive and inclusive local associations statewide.
  10. Provide field assistance statewide.
  11. Maintain NJEA-NEA affiliation standards.
  12. Work closely with the field rep for membership and organizational development for overall membership growth and development.
  13. Work with the field representative for membership growth and organizational development with PRIDE and charter school-related issues.
  14. Serve as staff contact to the ESP, Privatization, and Affiliation committees.
  15. Serve as staff liaison to NEA on ESP membership and maintenance.
  16. Serve as primary consultant to Government Relations regarding ESP political and legislative activities.
  17. Work cooperatively with the Manager of Information Services on overlap activities of membership promotion and processing.
  18. Direct the activities of the secretary in the organizing ESP office.
  19. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.


Qualifications

  1. Substantial experience in educational support personnel and teacher association activities.
  2. High degree of intelligence, integrity, imagination and leadership ability.
  3. Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and execute activities with a minimum ofguidance.
  4. Demonstrated ability to write and speak effectively.
  5. Ability to inspire and motivate others.
  6. General knowledge and experience with communications and public relations techniques.
  7. Ability to analyze and utilize research data.
  8. Physical stamina to withstand the extraordinary demands of campaign work.
  9. Ability to make calm, reasonable, mature judgments under pressure.
  10. Ability to work cooperatively with all other staff members.
  11. Commitment to the objectives and philosophy of a unified member organization.
  12. Bachelor's/master's degree(s) desirable.


Salary

Starting Salary: $123,497 NJEA offers a range of benefits, including family health (with prescription coverage), optical, dental, and life insurance, a defined benefit pension plan, long-term disability leave, and paid parental, sick, and vacation leave.
