SUMMARY

Colliers Mortgage is seeking a driven, customer focused, and detail oriented Commercial Tax Team Lead to support our internal Escrow Department. A Tax Team Lead is skilled in processing property tax payments, conducting escrow analysis, and mortgage insurance premium payments on a large portfolio. They will possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills in addition to effective verbal and written communication. This position requires a deadline driven, organized individual responsible for ensuring timely processing of all aspects of the position while mitigating risk to Colliers Mortgage and Investors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct due diligence of loan documents to ensure proper loan setup and servicing of the loan
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, self-regulatory organization requirements and Colliers compliance and employee policies
  • Plan and schedule personal workload to most efficiently meet benchmarks and manage assigned portfolio, prioritizing according to risk and urgency
  • Facilitate comprehensive and effective training sessions for existing employees and oversee new hire onboarding to ensure understanding of necessary skills and procedures.
  • Provide hands-on leadership through the training and mentoring of tax analysts by assisting in running meetings, holding team member one-on-ones, and in completing quality control audits to provide performance feedback to team members
  • Oversee and review various monthly reports to effectively manage the loan portfolio for yourself and your team
  • Update and provide feedback to senior management on current policies and procedures
  • Monitoring and payment of property taxes for loans in which escrows are held to ensure they are paid timely and accurately
  • Payment of HUD mortgage insurance premiums (MIP).
  • Perform escrow analysis to ensure sufficient funds are escrowed for taxes and insurance
  • Work directly with Borrowers regarding appeals and shortages recommending course of action
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Other duties assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of commercial tax experience required
  • 1+ year of Commercial Mortgage Lending industry experience, including familiarity with various Lender Requirements such as Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSE), HUD/FHA, banks, credit unions, and/or Life Insurance Companies required
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • Driven, innovative team-player who is focused on results and strives to deliver a superior work product
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to train and mentor junior staff
  • Strong time management skills with respect to deadlines.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies in the available information
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills required
  • Associate's degree or greater preferred

COMPENSATION

Pursuant to the laws regarding job postings where the position is located, Colliers is disclosing the following information:

Area/Location Specific: Minneapolis, MN

Approximate Salary Range for this role: $80,000 - $110,000 per year

This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus

Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
