Title: Manufacturing Heat Treat Furnace Operator Location: Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, Independence, MO Starting Pay: Starts at $20.00/hour with increase to $26.00/hour after successful completion of 120-day probationary period. Schedule: 36/48 rotating 12hour shifts; Thursday-Sunday 6:00pm-6:30am. Manufacturing Heat Treat Furnace Operator Essential Job Functions:
- Controls various parts of furnaces, trains, dryers, conveyors etc. Cleaning train baths, tanks and barrels.
- Performs preventative maintenance, fabricating metal parts, basic electrical repairs and stainless-steel welding.
- Regulates flow of links through furnaces to ensure proper hardness, controls and monitors dew points.
- Maintains proper concentration of salt, lubrication solutions and water for washing, neutralizing and lubricating baths in accordance with quality readings and visual examinations of links for smoothness, color, etc. Maintains supply of salt and lubricants.
Operates industrial trucks to move heavy equipment's and parts necessary for overhead and/or repair of furnaces, dryers, conveyors, etc.
Manufacturing Heat Treat Furnace Operator Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain a government driver's license.
- Must be able to read and interpret detailed prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
- Ability to use measuring devices, micrometers, calibrated steel tapes, calipers, power and non-power hand tools.
- Must have basic welding skills, sheet metal preferred.
- Experience trouble shooting and repairing mechanical equipment. Experience operating overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, flat beds and tractors preferred.
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme temperatures, stand for prolonged periods, lift and carry up to 40 pounds, push up to 800 pounds by way of team lifts and use of support device (hand carts, pallet jacks, gondolas, forklifts etc.). Reach overhead, repeated twist and bend at waist, climb ladders and stairs.
- Must have full vision, including color vision.
- Ability and willingness to work Weekends, including overtime.

- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. To meet the government-facility requirements, the candidate must be a US citizen.
