| Primary Purpose of Position |
Research Technician for Bioengineering Lab to support grant work. Duties include preparing media, reagents, and chemical solutions for specimen testing. Observe,measure and prepare tests. Collect and record data. Technician will provide routing care and properly dispose of subjects after testing is complete. |

| Essential Job Duties |
Preferred candidate will have experience working in a lab environment. Employee duties include being responsible for animal procurement and disposal, making of solutions,setup and cleaning of the perfusion system (normothermic, subnormothermic, hypothermic), taking samples, perform assays, data collection, ordering of supplies, etc. |
| Other Work Responsibilities |
The research tech will be responsible for the daily duties of the laboratory including solution preparation, ordering of supplies, data acquisition, etc. Specifically, they will prepare for animal surgeries, organ digestion, and primary cell isolation. In addition, he/she will be responsible for organ digestion, primary cell isolation, organoid forming and culturing. The research tech will also perform cryo experiments, assess viability, yield and function. Additional responsibilities may expand as the projects grows including isolated organ perfusion. Skills in general biology lab techniques, cell culturing, microscopy, and assays are a plus.
Employee Duties Include:
- Maintain working knowledge of research practices and accepted protocols, and skills to organize an academic research lab.
- Conduct tests and experiments in accordance with the grant guidelines and properly, accurately and consistently document results with minimal supervision.
- Utilize skills and technical ability to perform tests, analyze results and calibrate measurement devices without assistance or correction.
- Use appropriate equipment, chemicals and research practices to accurately document results. Assist the supervisor with lab management.
- Utilize skills and experience to conduct routine tests, assist and follow lab procedures consistently. Maintain knowledge required to recognize abnormal results, identify outliers and report questionable data to the supervisor for resolution. (This requires greater skill than just observing and collecting.)
- Contribute to the upkeep of equipment by fixing small issues or notifying the supervisor for larger repairs.
