Summary of Position: A Business & Industry trainer collaborates with the college and local industry to develop and deliver customized training for employees in a particular field. Western Technical College works with business throughout our district to provide high-quality training services designed to enhance employee skills and productivity. Trainings are held either at one of Western's campuses, or at the company's location. We are seeking an experienced and credentialed OSHA 10& 30 Instructor to deliver high-quality workplace safety training. The instructor will be responsible for teaching the OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour Outreach Training Program for General Industry, ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements, and equipping supervisors, foremen, and workers with knowledge to identify, prevent, and control workplace hazards.
Business and Industry training assignments offer a great deal of flexibility (with weekdays, evening and weekend part-time hours as needed). May involve local or regional travel. Classroom, online and/or onsite training settings.

Essential Functions

Complete all required College training while being responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department. 3. Training - Supporting Actions May Include:
- Provide First Choice Service while developing the incumbent workforce served by Western Technical College
- Collaborate with the college and business to develop customized non-credit training for employees in the skills area of in OSHA 10/30 Hour Training courses (General Industry)
- Work in partnership with the employer and Western Business & Industry staff to develop functional training materials in a professional format
- Provide lecture and hands on training designed to enhance employee skills and productivity
- Collaborate with Western Business & industry staff to determine dates and times of training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour training courses (General Industry) following OSHA Outreach Training Program guidelines.
- Facilitate interactive and engaging instruction for adult learners with varied backgrounds.
- Customize training with practical examples and industry-specific scenarios.
- Maintain accurate records, attendance, and documentation as required by OSHA.
- Assess participant learning and provide feedback to reinforce safety principles.
- Stay current on OSHA standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture and hazard awareness through instruction.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Occupational Qualifications:
- OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer for OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour (General Industry).
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant safety, construction, manufacturing, or related industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience as an instructor, trainer, or adult educator.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, and workplace safety practices.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to engage and adapt instruction for diverse learners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Authorized to teach both OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour courses
- Additional safety certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, HAZWOPER, MSHA)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience with employee training and development
