 Essential Duties  
  
 Operates all types of sewing machines with single and/or double needlePlaces spool of thread on spindle of machine and draws thread through machine guides, tensions, and eye of needleInserts bobbin into shuttle and draws thread through slot in shuttle wall or draws thread through guide and lopper eyePresses knee lever, depresses pedal, or moves hand lever to raise presser footPositions parts to be sewn under presser foot and needle and lowers presser footStarts, stops, and controls speed of machine with pedalLocks end of material with back-stitchGuides parts under needle following edges, seams, guides on machine bed or markings on partMakes sure all pattern marks line up to each otherObserves face and back stitching to detect defects and notifies supervisor when defects are caused by machine malfunctionObserves workmanship at previously made parts and subassemblies to detect defects and notifies supervisor or quality control inspectorPerforms any repair or corrective sewing as required by the supervisorSelects sewing supplies such as binding, braid, cord, piping, tape, thread or webbing, according to specifications or color of materialCuts excess thread or material. Oils and cleans machine in accordance with the maintenance instructionsCleans work station area on a daily basisReports daily activities using labor report cardsSupports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organizationAdheres to all quality and safety standardsSupports other projects and performs duties as assigned
 Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities: 
  
 High school diploma or GED preferred. In lieu of diploma, relevant work experience demonstrating the required job skills and abilities needed to successfully perform the job.1-3 years of industry experience.Performs operations using units of length, width and depth, adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides in all units of measuring while using whole numbers.
