The Salvation Army Mission Statement:

A. BASIC PURPOSE

The Youth Development and Child Watch Attendant is responsible for the safety, care, and well-being of the children within the Arts, Education, and Camps department, including Child Watch, Camps, and other arts or education classes. Attendants will follow the policies and procedures of the center regarding personal conduct and security, as well as demonstrate a true desire to work and play with children. The Youth development and Child Watch Attendant will take lead and direction from the Arts, Education, and Camps Manager or Department Lead.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide excellent customer service to the community with prompt, courteous, and professional interactions.

2. Follow all Child Safety policies and procedures including vigilant supervision and appropriate boundaries.

3. Relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.

4. Demonstrate awareness of children's individual needs and support their emotional and physical well-being.

5. Use positive discipline techniques and maintain a safe, structured environment during all activities.

6. Respond calmly and appropriately to security, behavioral or crisis situations.

7. Maintain working knowledge of all current Kroc Center programming.

8. Keep work and play areas clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.

9. Assist with program setup, breakdown, and transitions between activities.

10. Encourage participation, creativity, and teamwork among participants.

11. Adhere to The Salvation Army Kroc Center policies and procedures.

12. Follow and comply with all safety rules and regulations.

13. Monitor facility security and report any concerns to a supervisor immediately.

14. Complete all required training, certifications, and ongoing professional development.

15. Maintain confidentiality.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must be at least 18 years of age.

2. High school diploma or GED equivalency.

3. Minimum of 6 months successful experience working with children preferred.

4. Ability to empathize, communicate, and work with people from diverse backgrounds.

5. Thrive in a team environment with emphasis on partnership and collaboration.

6. Demonstrate positive interactions with co-workers, clients, and members.

7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining poise and professionalism.

8. Assess challenging situations and respond appropriately.

D. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

1. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.

E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Physical mobility in bending and lifting up to 30 lbs.

2. Use of auditory and visual senses with children and staff.

3. Ability to verbally communicate with children and staff.
