Job Description:

The primary function of the Project Engineer I is to participate on project teams that are responsible for the design, acquisition, installation and upgrade of critical systems and equipment used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The Engineer I assumes responsibility and accountability for lower level capital and expense engineering projects involving facility or production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, cGMP upgrades, etc.

The Project Engineer II/III provides pharmaceutical engineering knowledge primarily in the area of facility engineering. This position will manage large-scale projects and multi-disciplinary project teams. The engineer will also contribute technical direction for complex projects and exhibit clear communication skills with all levels of employees. This individual will be recognized as knowledgeable in multiple areas of facility pharmaceutical engineering and help provide leadership and guidance to others.

  1. Assumes responsibility and accountability for lower level capital and expense engineering projects involving facility or production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, cGMP upgrades, etc. Projects will require skills such as Engineering calculations, specifications and other technical writing skills, cost estimating, equipment acquisition scheduling, cGMP knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills and documentation skill, et. Provides engineering support of small portions of capital and expense projects from financial justification, to start-up and through to completion.
  2. Incumbent shall possess practical knowledge in an engineering technical field such as Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Controls, or Manufacturing Technology. This includes the ability to interpret detailed Engineering drawings, specifications, logic diagrams, schematics, verbal and written instructions.
  3. Responsible for the proper use of cGMP and Engineering documentation systems. Examples include electronic SOP documentation management system, training records, change control system, engineering drawings, validation documentation, etc.

Project Engineer II (In addition to the above):

  1. Provides technical support of engineering facility projects including facility and utility expansion, compliance upgrades, cost reduction, contract manufacturing, process improvements, construction projects, etc.
  2. Through education and experience contributes expertise in the area of facility engineering. This includes design, modification and troubleshooting pharmaceutical systems such as HVAC, Clean Steam, WFI, electrical and knowledge of pharmaceutical construction methods.
  3. Is responsible for contributing knowledge of regulatory requirements for the facility and processes to ensure compliance to local, state, federal and international regulatory agencies.
  4. With slight supervision/assistance, manages capital and expense facility projects in a manner that is compliant with the "Project Management Guidelines" system. This system includes methods for scheduling, budgeting, meeting management, teamwork, communication, and documentation of a multi-departmental project team.
  5. Must work effectively with various internal and external customers on a daily basis. Internal customers may include departments such as Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Validation, Finance, etc. External interactions will include officials from local, state or federal regulatory agencies, A&E firms, construction firms, vendors, equipment manufacturers, etc.
  6. Participates in the compliance to both short-term and long-term company objectives as defined by upper management.
  7. Development of detailed specifications and RFQs to be used by A&E firms, contractors or equipment manufactures to accurately quote on projects being pursued by the company.
  8. Responsible for using systems of engineering documentation required by regulatory agencies and in compliance with generally accepted engineering guidelines, SOPs, or quality standards.

Project Engineer III (In addition to the above):

  1. Autonomously manages major capital and expense facility projects in a manner that is compliant with the "Project Management Guidelines" system. This system includes methods for scheduling, budgeting, meeting management, teamwork, communication, and documentation of a multi-departmental project team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related Engineering field required.
  • Pharmaceutical and FDA Regulated Industry experience desired.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Microsoft Project desired.
  • Mechanical aptitude desired.
  • Exposure to allergens required
  • Working in aseptic areas required
  • Working in confined spaces required
  • Prolonged sitting and standing required

Project Engineer II (In addition to the above):

  • 3+ years of project management and/or project engineering
  • AutoCAD desired
  • Pharmaceutical Facility/Systems experience desired
  • Project Management knowledge required
  • ISPE Baseline Guides experience required
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. unassisted required

Project Engineer III (In addition to the above):

  • 7+ years of project management and/or project engineering

Shift: Weekday Days, Monday-Friday

Compensation & Benefits:

This is an on-site, full-time position located in Spokane, WA.

Hiring Wage:

  • Project Engineer I: $81,825.00- 120,000 annually depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises. Midpoint and above is reserved for employees who have longevity with Jubilant HollisterStier and consistently exhibit outstanding performance over a period of time in the role
  • Project Engineer II: $89,250.00 - 130,900 annually depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises. Midpoint and above is reserved for employees who have longevity with Jubilant HollisterStier and consistently exhibit outstanding performance over a period of time in the role
  • Project Engineer III: $102,075.00 - 149,700 annually depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises. Midpoint and above is reserved for employees who have longevity with Jubilant HollisterStier and consistently exhibit outstanding performance over a period of time in the role
