Operating Engineer - JLL What this job involves:

The Operating Engineer is a critical technical professional responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across JLL's client facilities in Northern Illinois. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with preventative maintenance leadership to maintain world-class facility operations that support our clients' business objectives. As an Operating Engineer, you'll be the technical backbone ensuring building systems operate efficiently while delivering exceptional tenant services that reflect JLL's commitment to operational excellence and innovation in commercial real estate management.

What your day-to-day will look like:

* Control the daily operation of all mechanical equipment in the physical plant and buildings

* Perform maintenance and repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility to keep these systems up to applicable standards

* Monitor operation and maintain refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment, pumps, valves, piping and filters, other mechanical and electrical equipment

* Perform and/or complete all tenant service requests accurately and expediently

* Formulate and implement the preventative maintenance program for the building in conjunction with the Operations Manager

* Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors

* Evaluate building systems to monitor and improve performance and operating efficiencies

* Actively participate in emergency response procedures, technical and safety training programs

* Track and report time worked in accordance with account policies and procedures while completing special projects as required

Required Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED

* Minimum of 4 years' experience in electrical, HVAC trade, including Roof Top Units

* Minimum of 4 years' experience in backup systems (generator and UPS)

* Knowledge of maintenance and operation of building automation, water treatment and fire life safety systems

* Universal CFC certification

* Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds

* Ability to work long hours occasionally and some weekends, including on-call responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

* Good interpersonal skills and a positive team attitude

* Familiarity with computers and operations and office automation applications, including Microsoft Office

* Strong customer service orientation

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Demonstrated consistency in values, principles and work ethic

* Understanding of and commitment to client service

* A desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment

Location: Northern Illinois (Multiple client sites)

Estimated compensation for this position:

80,000.00 - 99,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
