General Summary: Works independently and as part of the team to secure mid-level gifts and build the pipeline of future major gift donors to Boston Children's Hospital. Through phone calls, personal visits, and other meaningful interactions, identifies and qualifies new prospects; cultivates, solicits and closes low six figure gifts; and stewards lead annual and mid-level donors. Personally, manages a portfolio of mid-level giving donors/prospects needing sustained cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts a number of prospect visits monthly to ensure that goals are met, manages and initiates all activity related to prospects consistent with moves management principles, and creatively and persistently seeks connections to new prospects to qualify interest and capacity, and to build pipeline.
May act as primary staff liaison to assigned departments/programs and develops annual operating plan forecasting solicitations, and visits for each department staffed, in consultation with the AVP, Principal & Major Gifts and VP, Development.
Builds and nurtures effective working relationships with senior management, department chiefs, clinicians, researchers and volunteer leadership to identify funding needs, prepare the case for support, identify prospects and donors, and solicit major gifts.
Writes, drafts and edits letters, proposals, reports, acknowledgements, case materials, briefings and donor correspondence, planning specific communication for each donor from physician scientists and/or leaders in the institution.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to position, write, and analyze complex scientific, clinical, research, and medical issues to secure philanthropic support across multiple departments/divisions.
Strong strategy development and execution skills, with the ability to collaborate with peers and persuade external organizations and individual prospects regarding cases for support, gift agreements, and relationships with the Trust and the Hospital.
