Job Overview

The Customer & Digital Intern participates in Macy's 8-week Summer Internship Program, applying classroom knowledge in a real-world setting while gaining in-depth exposure to key corporate functions within CRM/Loyalty, Digital Strategy, or Site Merchandising. The intern contributes directly to the business by working on meaningful projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and sharing innovative ideas. Throughout the program, the intern experiences Macy's culture through interactions with senior leaders, professional development workshops, and networking opportunities.

What You Will Do

CRM/Loyalty



  • Support Loyalty and Credit Marketing by assisting with campaign strategy, execution, and performance measurement.
  • Help drive member activations, events, and campaigns, ensuring best-in-class execution.
  • Execute member lifecycle messages and enhance the digital customer experience.
  • Assist in personalizing Macy's customer communications from concept through measurement.


Digital Strategy



  • Build Event Readiness Tools: Create and maintain dashboards and tools to track readiness for key retail events, enabling proactive issue resolution and cross-functional alignment.
  • Strengthen Planning Inputs: Develop OKR tracking frameworks and input quality metrics to ensure retail plans are data-driven and actionable.
  • Drive Post-Mortem Reviews: Lead cross-functional post-event analyses to capture learnings, assess performance, and inform future planning cycles.
  • Conduct diagnostics and analyses to support strategic priorities and decision-making.


Site Merchandising



  • Support optimization of event execution and promotional initiatives.
  • Test and sign off on promotions in preview environments to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Assist with affiliate and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) efforts, including weekly linking submissions of top-performing offers, and support email, mobile messaging, and homepage linking with the Site Merch Associate.
  • Support data pulls, aggregation, and reporting, developing proficiency in tools such as Adobe and Power BI.
  • Collaborate with merchant teams to understand business strategies, objectives, and priorities.
  • Monitor top competitors in the market and stay informed on their events and promotions.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.



Skills You Will Need

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills - Ability to interpret data, conduct analyses, and generate actionable insights to support business decisions.

Project Management & Organization - Capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritizing work, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Digital & Technical Proficiency - Familiarity with digital tools and platforms, including Adobe, Power BI, and marketing/CRM systems; ability to quickly learn new technologies.

Communication & Collaboration - Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, senior leaders, and external partners.

Customer-Centric Mindset - Passion for enhancing the customer experience and driving engagement through loyalty, digital, and merchandising initiatives.

Creativity & Innovation - Able to contribute new ideas and solutions, supporting continuous improvement in marketing, digital strategy, and merchandising.

Market Awareness & Business Acumen - Understanding of retail trends, competitor activity, and business priorities to support strategic planning and execution.

Who You Are



  • Rising Seniors pursuing a bachelor's degree with strong academic performance are encouraged to apply. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
