Summary of Job Description:

The Workplace Counsel provides professional legal advice and counsel on workplace, employment, and corporate issues, manages litigation, including single plaintiff and class actions, guides and leads compliance initiatives, and manages administrative claims and audits and internal investigations.This position engages in legal negotiations of settlements of cases and/or matters, reviews and prepares policies and procedures, drafts legal memoranda and related documents, and leads, develops and/or implements compliance initiatives.The Workplace Counsel trains HR and Operations teams on relevant workplace topics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides legal advice and counsel on workplace, employment and corporate issues with minimal supervision, manages litigation, including single plaintiff and class actions, guides and leads compliance initiatives, and manages administrative claims and audits and internal investigations.
  • Engages in legal negotiations of settlements of cases and/or matters, reviews and prepares policies and procedures, drafts legal memoranda and related documents, and leads, develops and/or implements compliance initiatives.Assists on larger, nationwide issues.
  • Trains HR and Operations teams on relevant workplace topics. Collaborates with different stakeholders on internal projects and systems.
  • Reviews and oversees outside counsel on workplace-related issues, including litigation, compliance and advice and counsel.
  • Serves as the company's subject matter expert in at least two major areas of workplace laws, such as wage and hour, discrimination, and leave of absence/benefit laws and concepts.
  • Coordinates information and documents related to internal investigations and litigation matters, applying case handling and litigation strategy with minimal supervision.
  • Assists in complex investigations and litigation matters under supervision of more senior attorneys or General Counsel.

Must reside around the following areas:

Your background and experience:

  • JD degree and licensed to practice law in California.
  • Minimum four years of relevant experience
  • Successful completion of initial and periodically required trainings.
  • Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is a requirement of this position.
  • Active driver's license
  • Ability to drive in locations that requires ground transportation during the course of work

Pay Range: L2: $112,500 - $192,000/ Annual

* Within the range, individual pay is determined using various factors, including work location and experience.
