Position Overview

The Director of Business Operations for Operations is a strategic leader responsible for driving the planning, execution, and governance of high-priority initiatives that support business growth and transformation. This role partners closely with Operations leadership and enabling functions (HR, Finance, IT, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Strategy) to ensure alignment with organizational goals and operational excellence. The Director will lead a team focused on program management, communications, and continuous improvement, serving as a catalyst for change and a connector across the Operations organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Initiative Execution

  • Lead and manage complex, cross-functional initiatives aligned with the fiscal year strategic plan.

  • Oversee strategic projects as needs arise. Recent examples include CoverMyMeds competitive intelligence strategy development, customer feedback loops, National Sales Conference and tradeshow support.

  • Drive workforce planning, M&A integration, business continuity, and key partnerships supporting Operations.

  • Identify and work with leaders to mitigate risks to business priorities or initiatives.

Governance & Program Management

  • Develop and maintain governance structures for Operations, including executive presentations, monthly Operating reviews, program tracking (e.g., AIM28, Central Hiring Process) and goal tracking when applicable.

  • Ensure successful transitions from projects to long-standing programs within Operations.

  • Collaborate with Data & Analytics teams and other pillars to deliver on operational reporting and customer value.

Communications & Engagement

  • Serve as a partner to Communications for all Operations-specific meetings and communications (Town Halls, All Hands, Lunch & Learns, Office Hours).

  • Manage Operations SharePoint site, Teams channels, and other internal communications platforms.

  • Lead recognition programs (Quarterly Awards, Awards Trip) and engagement initiatives.

  • Support EOS efforts for the Operations org, including action planning and feedback integration.
  • Execute monthly All Hands for the Business Operations team. Work with leaders and team members on content creation and presentations.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Business Operations team.

  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented culture.

  • Support manager growth and development sessions, and drive employee engagement across the Operations journey (onboarding, development, retention).

Change Leadership

  • Champion change management and integration strategies to prepare staff for organizational evolution.

  • Lead operational readiness for new initiatives, acquisitions, and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of professional experience in operations, business process improvement, or project management.

  • 3-5+ years in people leadership roles.

  • Experience in large, complex, matrixed organizations.

  • Proven ability to lead large-scale initiatives, including M&A and organizational change management.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills; able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities, both virtually and in-person.

  • Columbus, OH-based (no relocation assistance).

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$121,400 - $202,400
