The Maintenance Technician II plays a critical role in keeping our plant operating at peak performance. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of electrical and mechanical systems in a fast-paced food processing environment. With expertise in electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, and fabrication, you'll be relied on to solve complex challenges and keep production moving without interruption.

From preventive maintenance to advanced troubleshooting, you'll handle both routine tasks and high-impact repairs-delivering hands-on solutions that directly support the entire operation. This role demands sharp technical skills, quick problem-solving, and the ability to adapt in real time to keep equipment performing at its best.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Efficient Work Order & Emergency Response - Evaluate work orders thoroughly to identify the tools, equipment, time, manpower, parts, and supplies required-ensuring every task begins fully prepared. Utilize computerized maintenance tracking system to create and manage work orders with accuracy. Respond to emergency calls with urgency and professionalism, arriving equipped to resolve issues quickly and effectively. Interpret and apply technical documents such as blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals to diagnose and correct complex system failures.
  • Hands-On Maintenance & Equipment Repair - Proactively monitor machinery in operation to detect potential malfunctions early and keep production on schedule. Disassemble and troubleshoot mechanical systems with precision, isolating faulty components, replacing them, and reassembling equipment to manufacturer standards. Fabricate replacement parts when necessary, applying welding, cutting, and sheet metal expertise to restore equipment reliability. Execute routine preventive maintenance across a wide range of mechanical systems-pumps, packaging, slicing, and more-ensuring consistent performance and uptime.
  • Installation & System Maintenance - Carry out the installation and maintenance of essential systems, including mechanical equipment, piping, and electrical controls, while ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards. Support the setup of new equipment and utilities-electrical, water, gas, and drain lines-helping to keep operations running at full capacity.
  • Technical Skills & Problem-Solving - Apply a strong working knowledge of hand tools and specialized devices essential for mechanical maintenance, ready to address diverse technical challenges. Rigorously follow preventive and predictive maintenance programs to sustain peak system performance, extend equipment life, and minimize downtime.
  • Safety First! You'll follow all company safety protocols, including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT procedures, and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performance environment. Your skills and attention to detail will directly contribute to the success of the team and the plant as a whole!

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years' direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school. (Preferred).
  • Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT).
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and execute work order, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.
