About the Role: Home Equity Lending Specialists are responsible for receiving and evaluating Home Equity loan applications from members nationwide. They work closely with each member to identify the loan product that best fits their needs, then gather required documentation, underwrite the loan, and ensure a smooth closing process in accordance with credit union policies and procedures. Along the way, they offer optional protection products and look for additional opportunities to support members' financial well-being. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role that allows lenders to make a meaningful impact on members' lives, all while being part of a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities:
Interview, solicit, and assist home equity loan applicants and provide information on loan products that best meet the members' needs. Actively participates in real estate-related educational opportunities. Describing home equity products, terms, requirements, and repayment options available to include non-home equity products that best meet the members' needs. Effectively underwrites home equity applications to ensure the members/borrowers qualify and meet the program guidelines and accept the appropriate risk. Effectively underwrite and approve home equity applications up to $100,000. Request and analyze all required loan information and documentation. Obtain and evaluate credit reports. Evaluate income and asset information. Calculate debt-to-income ratios. Review and analyze property condition reports ensuring all properties meet internal lending guidelines and procedures. Review and analyze initial property reports ensuring that all properties meet internal lending guidelines and procedures. Review and analyze appraisal reports to determine loan-to-value. Maintains a high level of accuracy and quality at 97% or greater as it pertains to loan files. Demonstrates effective communication with members/borrowers to ensure an exceptional member experience resulting in positive member survey results. Regularly and proactively communicate with members/borrowers providing loan status updates to ensure proper understanding of milestones. Engage directly with members via incoming calls, emails, and online banking to discuss their loan titles, handing follow-up as need to address questions. Provides exceptional customer service in all interactions, while achieving established efficiency goals. Evaluate risk and determine outcome of each loan request. Use credit lending limits and authority appropriately. Assure that loans are within program guidelines and individual approval limits. For amounts exceeding program guidelines or individual limits, refer to manager. Recommend and outline terms of loans within credit union's policies and procedures to members. Responsible for selling payment protection to members/borrowers and maintaining 10% penetration monthly. Proactively evaluate applicant's eligibility for other credit union loans, products, services, and cross sell and/or refer to the appropriate department. Develop, review, and manage individual action plan to ensure that desired loan production and ancillary sales results are achieved. Review with your manager periodically. Comply with all Federal Regulations as they pertain to your job duties, including BSA and ATR. Ensures that all HMDA reportable information is documented correctly with the loan origination system. Must adhere to all NCUA, and CFPB which includes but is not limited to Regulation Z, Regulation B, TILA-RESPA, ECOA, Fair Lending, Fair Housing, Wisconsin Consumer Act, HOEPA and HPML standards.
Position Requirements:
This position is Remote. Associate's Degree, or commensurate experience is Required. 1+ year of direct lending experience within a financial organization is Required. Prior sales experience is Required. Ability to obtain and maintain a NMLS Identifier Number is Required.
