**About the Role**

In this highly influential position, you will serve as a key technical leader, owning all aspects of your software engineering domain. You will be distinguished by your ability to independently direct your technical contributions, meticulously plan and scope projects, and act as a crucial point of contact for cross-functional partners. When faced with intricate problems, you will expertly define the scope, research innovative solutions and technologies, and recommend strategies that balance both immediate needs and long-term vision. Your work will directly enhance the robustness, safety, and performance of critical systems.

**Key Responsibilities**

* **Pioneer Evaluation Strategies:** Design and implement sophisticated methods for managing prompts and evaluation sets, meticulously organizing them to facilitate comprehensive testing for a wide array of safety issues within advanced systems.

* **Drive End-to-End Software Development:** Independently write high-quality product and system development code, conducting rigorous testing beyond unit levels (e.g., integration, performance, stress, security, load, fuzz). You will design code for optimal testability and create detailed test case descriptions.

* **Elevate Code Quality & Engineering Excellence:** Provide constructive feedback during code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices, style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency. Proactively identify critical components and technical debt, guiding and implementing remedies to enhance long-term maintainability and scalability.

* **Lead Project Ownership & Deployment:** Take full ownership of projects from inception to completion, contributing to qualification, end-user documentation, production deployment, monitoring, process automation, and customer support as needed.

* **Build Robust Infrastructure:** Establish or significantly improve testing, monitoring, and survey infrastructure, systems, and practices, always prioritizing code health, system maintainability, and scalability.

* **Shape System Architecture:** Design systems within your area of expertise, clarifying complex problems, breaking them into manageable parts, and assessing trade-offs to ensure coherent design. You will actively participate in and lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select optimal technologies.

* **Influence Business Impact:** Set, communicate, and achieve team priorities that directly support organizational goals, aligning with partners and making key decisions to achieve objectives.

* **Strategic Prioritization & Resource Management:** Prioritize work, equitably allocate resources, and manage them effectively to deliver significant business impact.
