Responsibilities
- The Patient Care Technician collaborates with licensed nurses to support the safe and compassionate delivery of patient care in a healing environment.
- Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the PCT performs delegated tasks and demonstrates advanced skills in providing care to age-specific patient populations.
- Responsibilities include recording data in accordance with policy, reporting patient observations and concerns, and assisting with both clinical and non-clinical duties.
- Key tasks involve obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and feeding, collecting lab specimens, and supporting patient monitoring.
- In addition to proficiency in general areas of practice, the PCT completes advanced unit-based competencies and skill validations, enabling them to perform their job functions as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of approved CNA/PCT certification program or enrolled as a student with less than one semester left in an approved certification program or 6 months of previous experience in a specialty tech position.
- For emergency room departments, an EMT Basic certification may substitute for CNA/PCT certification; paramedic license may fulfill certification requirements
- Must maintain active certification in the State of Kansas.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in acute or long-term care settings.
- Experience in Med-Surg Nursing or Emergency Room (ER) departments.
