The Talent, Data, & Intelligence Team Okta's Technology, Data, & Intelligence organization is on a mission to simplify and secure internal operations through automation, analysis, and scale. Our Productivity Engineering team is responsible for developing internal tooling, infrastructure and services that empower Okta employees to work as effectively as possible. We work across engineering, data science, security, and internal business teams to deliver automation-powered services that integrate across a wide array of SAAS apps and internally developed infrastructure to Okta. A growing focus for our team has been an investment of cycles into AI agentic platforms, workflow orchestration, and data analytic dashboarding. We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving tough problems and building with purpose. The Staff Engineer, Agentic Platform Opportunity Reporting to the VP, Engineering Shared Services, this role will help design and scale our Agentic AI Platform - the foundation that enables enterprise teams to build, deploy, and manage intelligent AI agents securely and at scale. As part of a global AI engineering team spanning the US and India, you'll lead technical direction, contribute hands-on code, and mentor peers while shaping platform capabilities that empower applied AI use cases across Okta. What you'll be doing Lead the design and development of platform services for AI agents, including orchestration, lifecycle management, observability, and guardrails. Partner with US and India engineering peers to define shared architecture and ensure globally aligned delivery. Build scalable APIs and frameworks that allow teams to rapidly create and deploy secure AI agents. Implement monitoring, evaluation, and governance features that ensure AI adoption is safe, reliable, and compliant. Collaborate with Applied AI engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure the platform supports real-world use cases. Mentor engineers, raise the technical bar, and contribute to setting best practices for AI platform development. Stay ahead of trends in agentic AI, orchestration frameworks, and enterprise AI infrastructure. What you'll bring to the role 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in AI/ML platforms or intelligent automation. Deep expertise in AI agent frameworks, orchestration, vector search, RAG pipelines, and monitoring/observability. Strong background in distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), APIs, Python and microservices Hands-on experience building secure, enterprise-grade infrastructure for AI or ML workloads. Proven ability to drive architecture decisions and influence platform strategy. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across time zones and global teams. Why join us? Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $188,000 — $282,000 USD Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.
