We are seeking an Archive Technician to join our team.



Role Summary

The Archive Technician ensures that Government records material is effectively managed, organized, secured, and retained in compliance with legal, regulatory, and business requirements, while also supporting the organization's operational needs and objectives. The Archive Technician will be responsible for performing quality control inspection of the work performed throughout the records management life cycle.



What you will be doing

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Assist with organizing archival materials according to established archival principles and standards.
  • Collaborate with Agency staff in identifying the current stage of government records.
  • Provide records management support including appraisal, retention scheduling, and disposition of records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with security measures to protect sensitive or confidential records from unauthorized access, theft, or loss, while ensuring appropriate access for authorized personnel.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with records management policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and address any identified issues or discrepancies.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What we need from you

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Federal Government Records Management principles, standards, and best practices for arrangement, description, and preservation of archival materials.
  • Experience with archival processing, including arrangement, description, and cataloguing using archival descriptive standards.
  • Familiarity with archival metadata standards and systems.
  • Experience with digitization processes, including scanning equipment, image editing software, and metadata creation.
  • The ability to work with other records team members with different records responsibilities.
  • The ability to use records management skills to organize and classify records based on their content, importance, retention requirements, and confidentiality based on Agency current records retention schedules.
  • Understand and have experience with storing and organizing records in both physical and electronic formats, ensuring they are easily retrievable when needed and stored securely.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a Technical Discipline; applicable work experience may be used as an acceptable substitute.
  • Four (4) years of government records management experience.

Security Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance is required; SCI eligibility is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time onsite, Washington DC

Pay Range: $90k - $100k

The pay range for this job is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
