Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's lower Peninsula. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

GENERAL SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
EPC Cost Engineers collect and analyze cost data to support the management and forecasting of project costs, utilizing pre-established systems to monitor and control costs. Moderate understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within area of responsibility. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This position will support projects in the Electric Distribution business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensure project/program adherence to EPM Project Lifecycle Processes that impact Cost Controls
* Support the corporate Change Log Request process
* Support the Long-Term Financial Planning and Rate Case processes, as required
* Effectively communicate monthly, annual, and overall project/program variance explanations
* Assemble, evaluate, and communicate accrual (advanced booking) data on a monthly basis
* Coordinate with the Project Team, Internal and External Stakeholders, as needed, to support the project
* Collect and analyze cost data in order to produce annual and overall project/program forecasts
* Miscellaneous data entry/tracking/reporting

* Other duties as assigned or may be necessary

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
* Firm understanding in the interpretation and use of project schedules to support project cost management
* Firm understanding of contract language and contract types
* Firm understanding of Project Management principles (Risk, Change, Contracting, Cost, Schedule, Scope, and Integration)
* Ability to apply problem-solving principles to resolve issues and remove barriers to work
* Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite of software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and to learn new computing software/tools used to support project

* Written/verbal communication skills
* Highly organized and capable of handling large amounts of data, with the ability to analyze data to recognize trends and issues
* Ability to plan and prioritize work as needed to meet deliverable deadlines
* Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently, as it relates to project cost management

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Engineering, or Construction Management and must have two (2) years of experience in a Cost Controls position directly related to the management of project/ program cost, or relatable experience/ profession.



  • (OR) Associates degree in Accounting, Engineering, or Construction Management and must have four (4) years of experience in a Cost Controls position directly related to management of project/ program cost, or relatable experience / profession.
  • (OR) High School Diploma with six (6) years of experience in a Cost Controls position directly related to management of project/ program cost, or relatable experience / profession.
