DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The SERS Information Security Specialist 1 is a key member of the Bureau of Information Technology team, integral to all BIT divisions and customer service. This position requires a high level of technical acumen, as well as process development and customer interaction. As the threat to information systems and individual sensitive data continues to evolve worldwide, the Information Security Specialist 1 will analyze and operationalize solutions and other technical activities to protect the SERS environment through strengthening and maintaining the security architecture. This position involves research, modernization, and providing technical recommendations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week, Monday through Friday.
  • A work schedule beginning and ending between 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., inclusive, with a half-hour or one-hour meal period will be considered, dependent on operational requirements. The requested work schedule may not end prior to 4:00 p.m.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time (hybrid work schedule), depending on operational needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you must work on-site at the work location specified in this job posting. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Network Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience performing technical work in information technology security, network support, or network administration, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • A bachelor's degree in any information technology field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
