GENERAL FUNCTION

This role is responsible for monitoring the billing and coding process for optometry practice(s). Submit claims to insurance companies, ensuring accurate coding of procedures and services, and follow up on outstanding payments.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Review patient information and verify insurance coverage to ensure accurate and timely billing.
  • Code and submit insurance claims for optometry services using appropriate medical coding systems (such as CPT and ICD-10 codes).
  • Review outstanding insurance claims to resolve any billing or coding issues.
  • Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to obtain necessary information for claim processing.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and guidelines to prevent claim denials or delays.
  • Handle patient inquiries and address billing or insurance-related concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of billing and insurance activities.
  • Provide support to the practice by assisting with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Stay current on changes in insurance regulations, coding systems, and billing practices.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, practice management, staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely billing.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • High school diploma
  • 3+ years of related work experience
  • Experience with routine vision claims, medical vision claims, insurance verification, coding and billing, claim submission, claim processing, patient billing and collections, insurance reimbursement, record keeping and reporting, HIPAA compliance and regulations
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, listening, presentation)



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Certification (CPB) Certified Professional Biller or (CPC) Certified Professional Coder
  • Provider Credentialing


Pay Range: 22.31-30.28

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
