Details about the team:

Aon Reinsurance Solution's US Cyber Analytics team consists of analytics professionals responsible for catastrophe Modeling and actuarial work, focusing on the cyber line of business. These divisions work collaboratively to support brokers and clients through analytics to achieve reinsurance placements and provide market insights. The team is spread out across the United States, with a concentration in New York and Chicago, and the role involves global collaboration with colleagues located outside of the US.

General description of role:

We are seeking a Catastrophe Analytics Analyst for our Cyber Practice Group to support our expanding client base and the evolving needs of the cyber insurance and reinsurance market.

Primary role is to support the catastrophe modeling needs of our clients and brokers, as requested by supervisors or brokers, including new and renewal business as well as RFP's and AdHoc projects or internal research assignments. Analysts are expected to develop proficiencies in both internal & external applications in order to accomplish assigned modeling tasks. You will become familiar with Aon's tools and approach, contribute to their development and present Aon's solutions and services to our clients. Secondary role is to assist in advancing the intellectual capital of the Cyber Practice Group through data collection and research including vendor model testing

Job responsibilities:
  • Analyze the risk inherent in cyber insurance portfolios using external vendor models such as CyberCube, Moody's RMS and Cyence.
  • Inventory and manage data related to insurance and reinsurance portfolios.
  • Prepare property insurance policy data for catastrophe risk analysis using Excel, R, SQL and other data conversion tools.
  • Create professional reports and visualizations to clearly communicate findings to internal and external clients and partners
  • Respond to brokers, clients, and reinsurers on issues and questions relating to risk analysis for Cyber exposures.
  • Prepare and send catastrophe risk assessment data to reinsurers and participate in reinsurance market calls.
  • Understand cyber insurance products, how they work and their purpose
  • Understand types of insurance products, and how cyber risks can impact them
  • Understand reinsurance contracts and products (terminology, terms, and conditions)
  • Take initiative on internal projects to improve processes, products, or services
  • Take ownership and responsibility for quality, accuracy, and timely completion of analyses

  • Complete tasks and respond to broker/client requests in a timely manner with an emphasis on accuracy and completeness
  • Proactive in identifying potential issues or constraints that can affect the ability to meet deadlines
  • Be able to manage multiple projects/tasks at one time through effective prioritization and time management
  • Show continued interest in developing knowledge of cyber (re)insurance market and catastrophe modeling methodologies through active participation in cyber team discussions, vendor webinars and model conferences.

Skills/competencies required:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in one or more of R, Python and SQL, or similar tools

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) for both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently and in collaboration with others
  • Flexibility to adapt when project timelines and expectations may change, and to adapt approaches when data is limited
  • Take initiative on internal projects to improve processes, products, or services
  • Take ownership and responsibility for quality, accuracy, and timely completion of deliverables
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems, think creatively, strategically, and analytically
Required years of experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in the insurance industry, ideally in a cyber cat modeling role.
Required education and certifications critical for the role:

Undergraduate degree in Math, Economics, Finance or other similarly quantitative or analytically orientated major, or equivalent experience.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $70,000.00 to $100,000.00 USD. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
