In this role you will have technical ownership of RF products and subsystems across the program lifecycle in support of Space Missions programs. This role includes defining RF subsystem architectures, specifications, and interfaces; performing analysis and verification; and leading end-to-end functional testing and performance demonstrations. You will collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams (systems, electrical, mechanical, software, and I&T) to deliver robust RF solutions for space applications.
You'll be part of a growing and dynamic Engineering organization. If this sounds like what you've been searching for, then don't hesitate to apply!

Responsibilities

  • Own RF subsystem design and development from concept through qualification, delivery, and operations.
  • Define RF architectures, specifications, interfaces, and integration approaches for spacecraft and payloads.
  • Perform RF link analysis, system-level trades, and performance modeling to ensure mission requirements are met.
  • Lead and support hardware development, procurement, and testing of RF equipment (amplifiers, oscillators, frequency converters, antennas, transceivers, etc.).
  • Lead end-to-end functional testing and performance demonstrations, verification, and validation.
  • Support environmental and performance testing including EMI/EMC, thermal vacuum, and vibration.
  • Provide technical oversight for suppliers and partners delivering RF hardware.
  • Prepare and submit FCC 1494 forms and other regulatory filings as required.
  • Generate technical documentation including design descriptions, test procedures, test reports, and verification matrices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the engineering organization.

Ideal Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field, with 5 or more years of experience in RF engineering for aerospace or defense applications.
  • Experience with RF subsystem design, development, and lifecycle ownership.
  • Experienced with RF system architecture, link budgets, and performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, power meters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Previous experience with RF design and analysis tools (e.g., HFSS, ADS, CST, Matlab, STK, or equivalent).
  • Experience with spacecraft RF systems such as telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C), payload communications, and RF distribution networks.
  • Knowledge of RF interfaces and standards such as S-band, X-band, Ka-band, RF/optical hybrid systems, and space-to-ground links.

Desired Skills

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related discipline.
  • Experience with conformal antennas, phased array antennas, beamforming techniques, and adaptive RF systems.
  • Experience interfacing with customers (NASA, DoD, commercial) and supporting design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR).
  • Hands-on experience with RF hardware such as amplifiers, transceivers, frequency synthesizers, converters, and antennas.
  • Experience with verification and validation in relevant environments (thermal vacuum, EMI/EMC, vibration).
  • Familiarity with FCC Form 1494 filings and spectrum licensing/regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of software-defined radios (SDRs) and digital signal processing for RF applications.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft systems engineering, including requirements management and model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
