Summary:

Under the direction of a licensed professional performs various service related activities in support of patient care through basic patient care, general cleaning and supplies distribution. The Patient Care Tech I may do some basic unit assistant/secretary duties, supervised by professional nurse/Manager/Director.

The Patient Care Tech I will assist with conducting and documenting vital signs, changing and making beds, transporting patient, delivery of food trays and assisting with lifting in and out of bed. In addition will provide activities for daily living to the patient that includes bathing, feeding, and dressing. May also deliver and retrieve items from other departments within the hospital. Answer call lights and may function as a Unit Secretary, including preparing patient record and order entry.

8NT is a 27-bed step-down unit with focus of Neuro Telemetry and Neuro Surgical Services. The primary patient population is stroke, seizures, spinal injury, laminectomy, cervical fusion, craniotomy s/p ICU recovery, and occasional Guillain-Barre and Myasthenia Gravis. Our staffing ratio is 1:4-5 nurse to patient ratio. We have a strong working relationship with our neuro surgeons and neurologist who provide education and guidance to help enhance our nursing care. A8 prides itself on our JCHAO recognized Gold Standard care for stroke patients. We strive to maintain a culture of teamwork and quality. Every associate on this unit is crucial, from our Charge nurse, to therapy, to housekeeping and case management. We truly utilize the teamwork approach.

Requirements:


  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service skills and computer literacy is required. Previous experience as a Patient Care Tech in a hospital setting preferred.
  • CPR (American Heart Association)
