Job Description As the Director of Agentic AI Architecture at Rockwell, you will be an influential technical leader, responsible for defining, championing, and executing the overarching architectural vision and technical roadmap for our most cutting-edge and complex Artificial Intelligence initiatives. You will operate as a hands-on expert while providing strategic guidance, with an emphasis on designing and implementing advanced agentic AI systems that exhibit robust autonomy, sophisticated self-learning capabilities. This pivotal role will shape the future of Rockwell's AI-powered products and services, requiring you to work extensively with cross-functional executive and technical teams to translate business objectives into groundbreaking, scalable, and highly innovative agentic AI solutions.
Your Responsibilities:
- Agentic AI Architectural Vision & Strategy: Define and drive the agentic AI architectural vision and strategy, pioneering and implementing agentic AI systems that push the boundaries of autonomy, self-learning, and complex decision-making
- Next-Generation Solution Design Leadership: Lead the architectural design and implementation of highly scalable, high-performance agentic AI systems, focusing on the interactions between agent components and their seamless integration with diverse external data sources and tools.
- Technology Leadership: Evaluate and recommend emerging AI/ML technologies, frameworks, and platforms, especially those related to Multi-Agent Systems (MAS), reinforcement learning, autonomous decision-making, and the implementation of open standards such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for enhanced AI interoperability.
- Scalability and Performance: Design agentic AI systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency, ensuring they can handle massive datasets and high traffic.
- Data Architecture: Collaborate with data engineering teams to define data ingestion, storage, processing, and governance strategies that support agentic AI system development and deployment.
- MLOps for Agentic Systems: Architect robust and efficient model deployment, monitoring, and management of interacting agents and their collective behavior, including tracking emergent properties and system-level performance.
- Collaboration and Communication: Partner closely with product managers, engineering leaders, research scientists, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, articulate architectural options, and provide technical guidance.
- Technical Guidance and Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to AI/ML engineers and scientists, fostering a culture of innovation.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with agentic AI systems, ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and ethical guidelines.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Years of Relevant Work Experience
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- The ability to travel up to 30 % of the time.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Typically requires 12 years management experience.
- 10+ years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale software systems, with a significant focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
- Deep understanding of fundamental AI/ML concepts, algorithms, and frameworks, with expertise in frameworks for building and managing agentic systems and integrating them with data and tools using industry standards such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their AI/ML services (e.g., SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure Machine Learning).
- Strong knowledge of data engineering principles and technologies (e.g., Spark, Beam, Kafka, Flink, Lakehouses, Delta etc).
- Experience with MLOps practices and tools for model deployment, monitoring and management including containerization and orchestration.
- Experience with RAG; frameworks, tools, fine-tuning and integrating vector databases with LLMs.
- The ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience implementing AI standards including ethical considerations and responsible AI practices.
