Full-time Description
Leads a team of retinal technicians in a fast-paced optometric environment. Combines technical expertise in retinal imaging and diagnostics with leadership abilities to oversee workflow efficiency, employee performance, and adherence to clinic standards. Essential Functions Supervise, coach, and support retinal technicians in daily operations, ensuring high performance, productivity, and professionalism. Prepare and oversee schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for patient care. Monitor patient workflow in retinal clinics, ensuring smooth operations and timely service delivery. Manage and maintain imaging equipment, oversee and optimize use, ensure functionality and calibration while coordinating repairs or upgrades as needed. Ensure patient data is securely managed and complies with HIPAA guidelines. Uphold clinic protocols and regulatory standards in patient testing and recordkeeping. Conduct audits of patient records, imaging results, and staff procedures for accuracy and consistency. Ensure all imaging processes align with clinical protocols, including accurate documentation of patient data and adherence to infection control standards. Create and implement staff training programs for new hires and ongoing professional development; facilitate team training sessions to develop technical skills and ensure staff competency in diagnostic procedures. Stay abreast of advancements in retinal imaging technology and ensure team members receive updated training. Gather, validate, translate and prioritize business and technical needs into a logically sequenced product and feature roadmap. Capture retinal images to assist in diagnosing retinal diseases; collaborate with physicians, ophthalmic assistants, and other clinical staff to deliver seamless patient care and timely results. Act as the liaison between retinal technicians and clinic management, ensuring clear communication of expectations and changes. Lead regular team meetings to discuss updates, workflow improvements, and address challenges. Requirements
Job Specifications Typically has the following skills or abilities: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a business-related environment Experience as a retinal technician with expertise in diagnostic imaging and testing Prefer certification in Ophthalmic Technology, Optometry, Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) or Retinal Imaging Advanced proficiency in retinal imaging techniques (e.g. Fundus Photography) Strong familiarity with medical software, including EHR systems and diagnostic imaging platform Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and teamwork Organization and multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment Bi-lingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) Patient-focused mindset with a commitment to high-quality care Strong leadership abilities, inspiring confidence and motivation in team members Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in clinical testing and data entry Reliable transportation to travel locally to screenings Ability to travel up to 75% of the time including travel to other Florida geographies overnight Clean DMV record Working Conditions The working environment is generally favorable.
