T-Rex Solutions is looking to select an Oracle DBA to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) EDOS program. The overall mission of this program is to modernize the IRS legacy Tax processing systems and is critical to the overall modernization of the IRS to improve taxpayer experience, increase voluntary compliance, and reduce the IRS's reliance on costly and unsustainable legacy technology. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of our Oracle database systems, ensuring their performance, security, and high availability. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining data integrity, implementing security protocols, and providing expert-level support for our mission-critical applications. This role requires a strong understanding of core DBA tasks, as well as the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:



  • Manage and maintain all Oracle database systems, ensuring their health, performance, and security.
  • Perform routine and on-demand database maintenance tasks, including patching, upgrades, and backups.
  • Implement and manage security protocols, including encryption and authentication, to ensure data compliance.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline routine administrative tasks.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization to resolve database-related performance issues.
  • Provide Application Support and engage in Troubleshooting for database issues.
  • Participate in an On-Call Support Rotation to provide 24/7 support.
  • Execute Change Management processes for all database modifications.
  • Assist with Capacity Planning and manage Users and Schemas.
  • Coordinate with Oracle Support Services for issue resolution and technical guidance.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of related experience. 4 additional years of experience required without a Bachelor's degree
  • US Citizenship required
  • Must be able to pass an IRS public trust investigation
  • Core DBA Skills: Expertise in Software Installation, Configuration, Upgrades, and Patching.
  • Database Management: Proficient in Database Creation, Migration, and Conversion.
  • Networking: Experience with Listener Creation, Configuration, and TNS.
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Strong knowledge of Backup and Recovery, Clustering, and implementing solutions like Data Guard for High Availability and Disaster Planning.
  • Security: Proven ability to manage Database Security (Compliance, Vulnerabilities, Remediation), Database Authentication (SSL), and Encryption.
  • Performance: Skilled in Performance Monitoring and Tuning to ensure optimal database performance.
  • Automation & Scripting: Experience with Shell Scripting, Reporting, and Automation using tools like Crontab.
  • Core Concepts: Solid understanding of Data Modeling, Database Design, and Data Integrity.
  • Programming: Experience with PL/SQL Coding and working with Database Utilities.
  • Platform Knowledge: Basic skills with Linux, Storage, and Network concepts.


Desired Skills:



  • Experience with ICCE and eServices preferred
  • Current IRS clearance desired

In compliance with pay transparency guidelines, the annual base salary range for this position is $127,000 - $150,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. T-Rex considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
