Compensation for this role is $100,000 -$125,000 The role may also be eligible for bonus or commission pay. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set.
As a Senior Manager of Compliance at RXO, you will be responsible for leading compliance activities within the brokerage team to ensure all import transactions meet U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Participating Government Agency (PGA) requirements. You'll facilitate and prepare customs entries, ensuring they are properly documented, classified, and compliant with federal regulations. - Prepare customs entries for all import shipments to be submitted to and released from CBP in a timely manner.
- Review and assess entry accuracy by verifying country of origin/export, importer of record (IOR), terms of sale, and valuation.
- Ensure proper tariff classification using company profiles, CROSS, binding rulings, and direct communication with importers.
- Develop and maintain customer compliance profiles based on shipment history; coordinate with customers to classify new commodities.
- Provide guidance and support to brokerage staff regarding classification, free trade agreements, admissibility, recordkeeping, and compliance matters.
- Conduct audits of entries and operational processes to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
- Answer internal and external brokerage-related inquiries.
- Ensure valid powers of attorney are on file and maintained for all importers of record.
- Partner with leadership to develop and deliver training programs for internal teams and customers.
- Assist with escalations, CBP inquiries, and enforcement actions.
- Monitor regulatory updates and communicate changes to the brokerage team and clients.
- Support continuous improvement efforts, including compliance program development, system enhancements, and process standardization.
- Educate customers on brokerage operations and compliance requirements to strengthen partnerships and increase sales.
What you'll need to excel: At a minimum, you'll need:
- Active U.S. Customs Brokerage License.
- 6 years of relevant experience in customs brokerage, compliance, or trade operations.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and PGA requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project), including creating complex formulas in Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
It'd be great if you also have:
- Associate or bachelor's degree, or equivalent related work/military experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or specialist-level experience in brokerage or compliance.
- Knowledge of trade agreements, duty drawback, Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), and bonded warehouse operations.
- Experience with project management, process improvement, and root cause analysis.
- Background in handling customer escalations and regulatory inquiries
