We are excited to add a Donor Recovery Associate to our Recovery team! This role will pay a an hourly rate between $16.00 - $23.00 hourly based on experience and other factors. POSITION SUMMARY: The Donor Recovery Associate plays a critical role in the receipt, inspection, quarantine and microbial swabbing of donated human tissue, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and organizational protocols. This role also prepares and coordinates the shipment of donor tissue to third-party recovery partners. This position requires demonstrated proficiency in recovery procedures and independent judgment in semi-routine situations. The Associate contributes to quality assurance and process improvement initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of donor respect and tissue banking excellence. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform receipt and inspection of human tissue and place in quarantine refrigerator. Process takes place in both a warehouse, laboratory environment, and walk-in refrigerator.
- Process/culture human tissue in a cleanroom environment (lab).
- Perform all of the routine tissue processes (e.g. tissue receipt, inspection, quarantine, microbial culturing, visual tissue assessment), as per required specifications, within expected times to meet operational schedules
- Prepare raw materials for shipment to field recovery sites in a warehouse environment.
- Adhere to all policies and practices from the Quality Management System (QMS) based on company standards and regulatory standards for tissue processing.
- Document results of each process performed, supplies used, etc. to maintain integrity and traceability of donor. Document recovery activities accurately and thoroughly in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Monitor tissue recovery/culture supplies and restock supplies as needed
- Perform other clerical duties for team such as filing, photocopying, faxing, etc.
- Monitor, maintain, and clean Recovery processing areas and equipment
- Support and contribute new ideas to the continuous tissue processing improvement efforts
- Perform donor recovery procedures with precision and consistency, ensuring compliance with internal protocols and external regulations.
- Independently manage semi-routine recovery assignments, recognizing when deviations from standard practice are necessary and escalating appropriately.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of tissue related activities.

- Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments.

- Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice and escalation when necessary.
SPAN OF CONTROL/COMPLEXITY:
- Support roles highly experienced in areas of complexity and responsibility
- Performs all of the standard and some specialized more complex aspects of the function; increasing department impact
- Normally, receive little instruction day-to-day
- Receives general instruction on new assignments
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in donor recovery, surgical assistance, or a related clinical or health-care related field. Prefer prior experience in human tissue banking, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical or cleanroom manufacturing. Other types of professional experience may be considered if they demonstrate transferable skills and relevance to the responsibilities of this role.
- Prefer prior knowledge of Good Documentation Practice (GDP), Good Tissue Practice (GTP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and AATB regulations
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Strong documentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Solid organization skills to support the efficiency of the Recovery laboratory operations
- Ability to effectively work and interact with all members of the laboratory, tissue processing, quality, distribution , and tissue recovery functions
- Must show aptitude to develop appropriate skills needed for the job and a strong understanding of recovery protocols
- Ability to apply acquired job skills and company policies to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable navigating semi-routine assignments and adapting to situational needs.
- Commitment to ethical standards and donor dignity
WORK ENVIRONMENT/EXPECTED BUSINESS TRAVEL:
- Culturing of human tissue is typically performed in a controlled laboratory environment. Will have contact/exposure with biohazardous materials, chemicals, and blood and human tissue. Training will be conducted on the handling and safety practices necessary for the use and disposal of hazardous chemicals and potential biohazards. Will also be trained on all applicable equipment needed to perform the job.
- Check-in process for receiving donor tissue is performed in controlled laboratory environment with exposure to sensitive information such as patients' medical records, and blood and human tissue samples
- A portion of time is also spent in a warehouse, unpacking the tissue shipment boxes and preparing supply orders for shipment. The temperature can vary from warm to cold, depending on the season. A portion of time is also spent in a large, walk-in refrigerator, where the temperature is maintained at 5C.
