As a seasoned data leader with vision, authority, and expertise, you will guide organizations through large-scale transformations. As an Associate Partner, you will serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite leaders, helping clients unlock the value of their data by shaping enterprise-wide strategies, architecting extensible data platforms, embedding data governance at scale, and enabling modern AI and agentic systems.
You will collaborate closely with our engineering, product, and technology teams to accelerate impact, positioning data as a strategic asset and fostering innovation through AI, GenAI, and agentic systems. Additionally, you will contribute to the evolution of McKinsey's data transformation assets-reference architectures, governance frameworks, and accelerators-and mentor the next generation of leaders within the firm.
Among your key responsibilities you will shape enterprise data strategy by defining holistic data strategies that enhance customer experience, unlock new revenue streams, and establish competitive advantage. Identify, develop, and acquire critical data products and assets with cross-enterprise value, including real-time, unstructured, and proprietary data sources. You will also advise on ecosystem partnerships to enable privileged data access and innovative client offerings.
Your work will include modernizing data architectures and platforms, i.e. leading the design of scalable, secure, and interoperable data architectures (e.g., Mesh, Lakehouse, Fabric) across products, platforms (e.g., low code no code), and cloud environments. Build modern platforms that seamlessly handle master data and unstructured data for advanced analytics and AI use cases using LLMs and SLMs Embed capabilities for real-time data ingestion, processing, and streaming to enable faster insights and responsiveness (e.g., Prompt engineering). Drive adoption of best practices in data/AI modeling (e.g., data/digital twin), data pipelines, and GenAI and agentic architectures.
You will drive data governance and AI-driven data management, champion enterprise data governance, data quality, master data management, metadata management, and compliance practices. You will deploy AI-driven data management approaches and tools (e.g., DataOps, MLOps, LiveOps) to automate data observability, cataloging, data quality monitoring, enrichment, and lineage. Staying ahead of industry and regulatory developments impacting data and AI, you will advise clients on responsible adoption (e.g., Data/AI Ethics).
You will be responsible for enabling innovation and change leadership; inspire adoption of next-generation AI/GenAI-driven practices in data discovery, governance, and collaboration (e.g., Knowledge graph, Data vault modeling); lead change management programs to align executive stakeholders and build sustainable capabilities.
You will ensure growth of the Data Practice. Partnering with data and analytics industry leaders to create new AI, GenAI, and agentic-enabled capabilities. You will be building thought leadership by shaping the external dialogue on the future of data, developing reusable data transformation assets and accelerators in GenAI, agentic systems, and AI-powered governance. This reflects our best estimate of the lowest to highest salary for this role at the time of this posting, ensuring you have a clear picture right from the start, though it's important to remember that actual salaries may vary. Factors like your office location, your unique blend of experience and skills, start date and our current organizational needs all play a part in determining the final figure. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to McKinsey's discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
