In this position you will provide a broad spectrum of design engineering leadership and manage the preparation of civil engineering projects, team member training and implementation of a QA/QC process for clients such as state, county and local governments as well as private development clients. The candidate will be a guide to project teams working in a fast-paced, project and client centered engineering environment where projects may range from large scale multi-year municipal programs to residential communities or commercial developments. Over the last two decades, WGI has been involved in many of Texas' largest and most complex projects. Responsibilities

    Assist design teams in the development of engineering designs including Construction plans, profiles, utility design, roadway design, plan details and specifications;
  • Prepare engineering documents including storm water design reports, permit applications, opinions of probably cost, and supporting calculations;
  • Coordinate project designs with other disciplines to determine resource needs, subconsultant partners, and authorities having jurisdiction, and resolve technical issues and concerns of clients and projects;
  • Coordinates with project managers, clients, and client representatives to ensure scope delivery, evaluate deliverables and ensure adherence to contract documents;
  • Evaluate the work of technical staff and provide feedback and/or correction based on client needs and regulatory requirements;
  • Produce written specifications for materials, implementation and construction methods;
  • Take the lead in developing project design approaches and concepts on assigned projects in coordination with project managers and request assistance from available technical staff when needed;
  • Assist project manager in establishing budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules, and project information through meetings to project staff;
  • Coordinates with local jurisdictional authorities, utilities, and municipalities to ensure understanding and compliance with industry and regulatory standards;
  • Provide direction on design and code requirements, specifically in the City of Austin and surrounding local jurisdictions.
  • Participate and develop a leadership role in local, regional or State level technical engineering associations including ACEC, TSPE, or ASCE.
  • Assist division managers in the development and execution of technical training programs for staff;
  • Continue to develop, mature and implement successful QAQC strategies, project delivery best practices, and innovative design solutions to increase project delivery efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Act as a mentor to aid in the professional development of junior level staff.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college;
  • Active registration as a Texas Professional Engineer (PE) is required and NCEES registration for multi-state accreditation preferred;
  • Site Civil and/or utility (water and sewer) engineering experience required;
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and web browser applications;
  • Knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies;
  • Proficiency in CADD is preferred;
  • Familiarity with modeling software (ICPR, EPANET. Water CAD, HecRas, etc) is helpful, although not required;
  • Strong work ethic and excellent written and verbal skills; and
  • Ability to mentor junior level and mid-level engineers

Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer, keyboard and mouse. Use of a telephone headset will allow for virtual communication with team members through Microsoft Teams or other digital communication. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit for prolonged periods (although stand up desk functionality is provided), use hands/fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms, speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
