Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly experienced project leader to guide critical real estate and construction initiatives within our Enterprise Portfolio Management Office. In this pivotal role, you will lead cross-functional teams, including agile squads, and collaborate directly with senior executives to deliver impactful business solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in navigating complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and successful outcomes within defined scope, schedule, and budget. **Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of large, complex real estate and construction projects, ensuring successful delivery within triple constraints.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, defining objectives, structure, roles, and responsibilities for diverse project teams.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to executive sponsors and customers, identifying solution options, driving problem-solving, and influencing key decisions.
- Proactively track project progress, prepare clear status reports, and anticipate potential issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Build consensus across teams and organizations, developing robust contingency plans and recommending effective solutions.
- Champion and enforce best practices in project management methodologies, adapting approaches to suit project context and continuously improving team skills.
- Drive action and resolution for project challenges, articulating problems, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring timely closure with appropriate urgency.
- Foster strong customer involvement throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring solutions meet business needs and communicating project status effectively.
- Apply lessons learned from previous projects to enhance future outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
- Encourage and manage project escalations proactively, ensuring timely resolution of roadblocks and maintaining transparent communication.
- Promote collaborative working relationships across project teams and mentor less experienced project managers.
- Implement and enforce effective change control processes to manage scope, communications, and quality.
- Empower project teams by driving decision-making to the lowest possible level of accountability.
- Mentor and educate project members, sponsors, and customers on best practices in portfolio, program, and project management.
- Maintain meticulous project documentation and facilitate information sharing across stakeholders.
- Prioritize and adapt project focus to address unexpected changes and maintain strategic alignment.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to assigned staff, setting clear objectives and recognizing performance.
**Must-Have Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree.
- 10+ years of direct, hands-on leadership and project management experience, specifically with real estate and construction projects, preferably within a financial services or corporate environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing various sizes of construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, costs, and schedules.
- Expert knowledge of Project Management Institute (PMI) principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in diverse project delivery methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile, Kanban, and Hybrid approaches.
- Self-motivated, assertive, and highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Outstanding time management, written communication, and verbal presentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic environments, manage pressure, and navigate complexity, shifting effectively between strategic vision and crucial details.
- Proven ability to develop detailed project plans and schedules, managing individual deadlines and goals.
- Deep expertise in project and quality metrics, including data gathering, reporting, and trend analysis.
- Skilled in identifying issues, generating options, and applying root cause analysis to select appropriate solutions.
- Experience managing project scope by assessing requirement changes and determining their impact on budget, time, and risk.
- Adept at managing stakeholder expectations, anticipating and tracking operational/tactical risks, and resolving project issues.
- Proficient in common office applications, project management software, and diagramming tools.
- Commitment to staying current with industry trends and new technologies through continuous learning and professional networking.
**Nice-to-Have Qualifications:**
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- SCRUM Master certification and practical experience.
