Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a research faculty to join the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in the Department of Internal Medicine is actively recruiting a research faculty with interest and/or expertise in endocrinology related research to join our esteemed faculty. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at understanding and treating endocrinology disorders, leveraging our state-of-the-art facilities and collaborative environment.

In addition to research responsibilities, the role involves active engagement in teaching and mentoring. The candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of endocrinology specialists through lectures, seminars, and hands-on training. This position also includes opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, engineers, and basic scientists, fostering a synergistic approach to endocrinology research. Access to extensive institutional resources will support the candidates research endeavors, facilitating impactful discoveries and contributions to the field of endocrinology.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is an academic position on the research track. The duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in the area of endocrinology including, but not limited to endocrinology disorders, diabetes, metabolism, endocrine cancer, reproductive endocrinology, lipids, osteoporosis, and neuroendocrine
  • Develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding
  • Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation
  • Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in Department, College and University committees and initiatives

Requirements

  • PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field
  • Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred
  • Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01 or Career Development Award)
  • Academic experience a plus
  • Qualify for an academic appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training experience

Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) orother terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal careerfocus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, orprofessor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary careerfocus centers on research, service, and teaching.Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also beinvolved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associateprofessor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD) or other terminal degree inthe relevant field of study.Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms ofone to five years. Their principal careerfocus is research.
