Summary:

The Senior Director Foundation Strategy is a member of leadership that has responsibility for helping design and ensure the success of a comprehensive fund-raising program to assist the Hospital in meeting its immediate and long-range financial goals. Primary fund-raising duties include the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gift prospects as well as responsibility for annual, capital, planned giving and corporate relationships.

Responsibilities:

1. Adds value as a key member of management; understands the business, financials, industry, customers and strategy.

2. Supervises employees, provides direction, coaches, trains and develops, and manages performance to company goals and expectations.

3. Adheres to department budget to maintain expenditure controls.

4. Assists the Chief Development Officer in the direction and growth of the Development and Grants staff, including fund-raising, special events and federal, state and local grant requests.

5. Primary fund-raising duties include the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gifts over $100,000 as well as responsibility for annual, capital, planned giving and corporate solicitations.

6. Works with different members of the Foundation team for strategic goal setting.

7. Consults with Development team members to identify prospects within their portfolio and assists them with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

8. Consults internal team for data analysis, in-service training, and other activities.

9. Other duties as required.

Other information:

Technical Expertise

1. Experience in professional fundraising with a proven record of successful results is required; healthcare fundraising is preferred.

2. Experience in relationship selling is preferred.

3. Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal and time management skills required.

4. Travel and valid Ohio driver's license is required.

5. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.

6. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Database management software is required; Raiser's Edge software is preferred. Planned giving [Crescendo, PGCalc] software is preferred.

Education and Experience

1. Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree preferred

2. Certification: Certified Fund-Raising Executive [CFRE] is preferred.

3. Years of relevant experience: minimum of 7 years in the field of philanthropic fund-raising is required.

4. Years of supervisory experience: minimum of 5 years is required.
